Vasundhara entrepreneur award

The 2nd Vasundhara NE Woman Entrepreneur will be conferred on September 19 at Shillong. instituted by Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, the wvent will see eight exceptionally talented women entrepreneurs from eight states of Northeast India being awarded in the state winners category and one among them being crowned with the coveted award for the year 2013-14.

M. Rajeshwar Rao, Chief General Manager, Financial Markets Operation Department, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai will grace the occasion as Chief Guest besides a host of dignitaries who will grace the occasion as distinguished guests.

Instituted in 2014 by the Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, it has emerged as a prestigious and one of a kind award and felicitation program covering the eight states of entire NE region. The award given to exceptional woman entrepreneurs with unique business ventures having a strong social commitment are selected by a selection panel constituted with eminent personalities from different sector related with entrepreneurship and business.

The state winners as has been declared by the selection panel for the  Vasundhara  NE Woman Entrepreneur of the year (2013-14) award are Lata Lepcha from Sikkim, Toko Likha Yaram from Arunachal Pradesh, T. Jemima Achumi from Nagaland, Moiregthem Muktamani Devi from Manipur, Lalhimpuii Hmar from Mizoram, Sukla Rani Debbarma from Tripura, Queency Thangkhiew from Meghalaya and Kanta Dey from Assam.

All of these women selected for the award have displayed rare sense of entrepreneurship and uniqueness in their idea and vision. For instance, while Smti T. Jemima Achumi of Nagaland has set up a fully automatic meat processing center with imported machineries from Germany and France, Toko Likha Yaram of Arunachal Pradesh has set up a cold storage at Banderdewa. Likewise Moiregthem Muktamani Devi of Manipur produces woolen knitted shoes and supplies to Indian army and also exports to countries such as UK, Australia and Korea. Their enterprises are exemplary in the otherwise male dominated sector of business and industry for which they have been identified and are being honoured, said Asomee Dutta Baruah, General Secretary of Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati.

The winner will walks away with a cash award of Rs. 25,000 besides trophy, a citation and a shawl and the eight state winners are being honoured with cash award of Rs. 10,000, a trophy, a citation and a shawl each.

Instituted with the sole objective of identifying the latent talents among the hardworking women entrepreneurs of NE region and recognizing and encouraging them for their endeavor and business achievements, the  award in its second year is being collaborated by the SME Division of the State Bank of India, NE Region and the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. The award ceremony has also been organized during the IIM, Shillong annual management conclave  Emerge 2015 which will take place on 19th and 20th September, 2015.

The lifeless APJ Abdul Kalam will be flown to his native town Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday to be buried amid on Thursday.The last rites of the late leader will be held in his native place. Amid a pall of gloom the lifeless Kalam was flown to New Dellhi on Tuesday morning a day after the former President died a sudden death in Shillong.Before being air dashed to Guwahati, Meghalaya Governor V. Shanmughanathan, Home Minister Roshan Warjri, Assembly Speaker Abu Taher Mondal and Director General of Civil Defence and Home Guards R.K. Sharma accompanied paid last respect to the noted scientist in Shillong.He collapsed during a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management in Shillong on Monday. Gauhati High Court on Saturday is expected to hear the sensational gangrape case of Diphu where two minor girls were raped by an ACS officer along with his three associates two months back.Police officials probing the case are fully prepared to submit the findings charging Pradip Timung of raping the minors before his trafficking effort. The deputy director of panchayat & rural development was accompanied by Hemari Kro and Biren Kro, officials of the inspector of school office and Anthony Phangcho who is an official of a conservation NGO.The incident took place in May. Gurudaspur firing has forced Assam to be kept on alert on Tuesday. A Central government team is supervising the efforts to contain the outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis.vaccination, distribution of mosquito nets, insecticides are being intensified to stop further spread of the disease.Health Department has taken a set of measures. These include reserving five to six beds in each district hospital and five beds in the medical colleges for the affected patients. All districts are ensuring proper investigations and treatment with diagnostic kits provided to the hospitals. Adequate medicines were available, awareness meetings were being held in all districts, medicated mosquito nets were being provided in the rural areas. Regular fogging is underway.
Dispur has received a notice from the Supreme Court on a petition by CBI challenging the Gauhati High Court’s direction to it to take up 481 cases relating to chit fund scam.A Division bench comprising Justice TS Thakur and Justice C Nagappan heard the CBI before allowing the plea.The High Court is free to monitor 15 cases, which were initially handed over to the CBI.CBI, said the agency lacks manpower and cannot handle the burden of probing all 481 FIRs lodged in the State.The Gauhati High Court had in January asked Dispur to hand over all the cases relating to various chit fund companies and non-banking financial companies (NBFC) to the CBI.
