The 2nd Vasundhara NE Woman Entrepreneur will be conferred on September 19 at Shillong. instituted by Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, the wvent will see eight exceptionally talented women entrepreneurs from eight states of Northeast India being awarded in the state winners category and one among them being crowned with the coveted award for the year 2013-14.

M. Rajeshwar Rao, Chief General Manager, Financial Markets Operation Department, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai will grace the occasion as Chief Guest besides a host of dignitaries who will grace the occasion as distinguished guests.

Instituted in 2014 by the Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, it has emerged as a prestigious and one of a kind award and felicitation program covering the eight states of entire NE region. The award given to exceptional woman entrepreneurs with unique business ventures having a strong social commitment are selected by a selection panel constituted with eminent personalities from different sector related with entrepreneurship and business.

The state winners as has been declared by the selection panel for the  Vasundhara  NE Woman Entrepreneur of the year (2013-14) award are Lata Lepcha from Sikkim, Toko Likha Yaram from Arunachal Pradesh, T. Jemima Achumi from Nagaland, Moiregthem Muktamani Devi from Manipur, Lalhimpuii Hmar from Mizoram, Sukla Rani Debbarma from Tripura, Queency Thangkhiew from Meghalaya and Kanta Dey from Assam.

All of these women selected for the award have displayed rare sense of entrepreneurship and uniqueness in their idea and vision. For instance, while Smti T. Jemima Achumi of Nagaland has set up a fully automatic meat processing center with imported machineries from Germany and France, Toko Likha Yaram of Arunachal Pradesh has set up a cold storage at Banderdewa. Likewise Moiregthem Muktamani Devi of Manipur produces woolen knitted shoes and supplies to Indian army and also exports to countries such as UK, Australia and Korea. Their enterprises are exemplary in the otherwise male dominated sector of business and industry for which they have been identified and are being honoured, said Asomee Dutta Baruah, General Secretary of Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati.

The winner will walks away with a cash award of Rs. 25,000 besides trophy, a citation and a shawl and the eight state winners are being honoured with cash award of Rs. 10,000, a trophy, a citation and a shawl each.

Instituted with the sole objective of identifying the latent talents among the hardworking women entrepreneurs of NE region and recognizing and encouraging them for their endeavor and business achievements, the  award in its second year is being collaborated by the SME Division of the State Bank of India, NE Region and the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. The award ceremony has also been organized during the IIM, Shillong annual management conclave  Emerge 2015 which will take place on 19th and 20th September, 2015.

Thirteen new parliamentary secretaries are taking oath on Wednesday. Chief minister Tarun Gogoi is administering them oath of office and secrecy at a function in the Sankardev Kalakhetra on Wednesday morning. They include Sushanta Buragohain, Arun Phukan, Monika Bora, Rumi Nath, Habul Charkabarty, Kamalakhya Purkayastha, Rupjyoti Kurmi, Aarti Kachari.  
The Kohima police have arrested a youth on Tuesday in connection with the missing of two drivers from Old KMC area in the capital city.The drivers went missing on the way to Kohima on Monday. Immediately after their arrival, the miscreants forcibly took them away after blindfolding their eyes.The apprehended person was thoroughly examined and who identified himself as Vituozolie Solo. He is said to be an active NSCN-IM member.

Preparations are afoot for the 3rd Kohima District Volleyball Championship 2015. Organized by the Kohima District Volleyball Association, the tournament is slated to begin from October 22 to 24 at Kohima Local Ground on league- cum- knock out system.KDVA finalized the decision at a joint meeting on at the Congress Bhavan Tuesday. Entry forms will be available from September 21 onwards at Sports World, Old Taxi Stand and Equipment & Sports, Razhu Point, Kohima.Last date for submission of forms has been fixed on October 17. Fixture will be drawn on October 19.Entry fee amounting to Rs. 2500 and Rs. 100 as form fee will be charged from each participant team.
The Shillong police have picked up one Akeep Warjri of Mawprem Dymmiew and  charged him with stealing a music system in Mawkhar area on Tuesday. It took place at 11:30 in the morning where the youth stole a music system from a Maruti car bearing Registration No.ML-05-K-6567 in KJP Hospital (Robert Hospital) Jaiaw. Later, Lumdiengjri police got some clues of the accused person and searched him and caught him from Motphran while he was attempting to dispose of the music system.  
Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma who quit as Congress MLA from Jalukbari constituency is likely to face the anti defection law. Assam Assembly Speaker Pranab Kumar Gogoi who received his letter on Tuesday will formally accept it on Wednesday when he will be in his office chamber.   Gogoi is expected to write to chief minister Tarun Gogoi seeking his comment as the Congress legislature party leader. After days of will-he-won’t-he, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma put in his paper as Jalukbari on Tuesday. Dr Sarma, who has already joined BJP last month, handed over his resignation letter before Assam Assembly Speaker Pranab Kumar Gogoi at his official residence in Dispur in the afternoon. Dr Sarma, who had been doing dissidence against Tarun Gogoi as chief minister unofficially join the saffron party towards the end of August when he met BJP president Amit Shah in his New Delhi residence.

There seems to be no respite for Gopinath Das as the Gauhati High Court rejected an anticipatory bail petition for the Boko AIUDF MLA in connection with the minor domestic help case. The court, however, asked police to submit the case diary required in the next hearing slated for September 22. On the other hand, police have been carrying out raids in a number of places in search of the MLA who has been absconding.The police have registered a case against the MLA on charges of wrongfully confining a minor girl and also a case under the POCSO Act.
A day after recruiting 13 new parliamentary secretaries chief minister Tarun Gogoi is set to induct two minister afresh in is cabinet. The beneficiaries are Gautom Roy and Siddique Ahmed.Gogoi is understood to have told the duo over telephone on Monday. Governor PB Acharya will administer oath of office and secrecy to both Roy and Ahmed on Wednesday.The 13 parliamentary secretaries will take oath from the chief minister in the same function at the Raj Bhawan. Siddique, the close associate of Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma was shunted out last year after Dr Sama resigned before the governor. Later Roy, who was a loyalist of the dissident camp was axed when Gogoi reshuffled his cabinet.
