Vasundhara entrepreneur award

The 2nd Vasundhara NE Woman Entrepreneur will be conferred on September 19 at Shillong. instituted by Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, the wvent will see eight exceptionally talented women entrepreneurs from eight states of Northeast India being awarded in the state winners category and one among them being crowned with the coveted award for the year 2013-14.

M. Rajeshwar Rao, Chief General Manager, Financial Markets Operation Department, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai will grace the occasion as Chief Guest besides a host of dignitaries who will grace the occasion as distinguished guests.

Instituted in 2014 by the Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, it has emerged as a prestigious and one of a kind award and felicitation program covering the eight states of entire NE region. The award given to exceptional woman entrepreneurs with unique business ventures having a strong social commitment are selected by a selection panel constituted with eminent personalities from different sector related with entrepreneurship and business.

The state winners as has been declared by the selection panel for the  Vasundhara  NE Woman Entrepreneur of the year (2013-14) award are Lata Lepcha from Sikkim, Toko Likha Yaram from Arunachal Pradesh, T. Jemima Achumi from Nagaland, Moiregthem Muktamani Devi from Manipur, Lalhimpuii Hmar from Mizoram, Sukla Rani Debbarma from Tripura, Queency Thangkhiew from Meghalaya and Kanta Dey from Assam.

All of these women selected for the award have displayed rare sense of entrepreneurship and uniqueness in their idea and vision. For instance, while Smti T. Jemima Achumi of Nagaland has set up a fully automatic meat processing center with imported machineries from Germany and France, Toko Likha Yaram of Arunachal Pradesh has set up a cold storage at Banderdewa. Likewise Moiregthem Muktamani Devi of Manipur produces woolen knitted shoes and supplies to Indian army and also exports to countries such as UK, Australia and Korea. Their enterprises are exemplary in the otherwise male dominated sector of business and industry for which they have been identified and are being honoured, said Asomee Dutta Baruah, General Secretary of Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati.

The winner will walks away with a cash award of Rs. 25,000 besides trophy, a citation and a shawl and the eight state winners are being honoured with cash award of Rs. 10,000, a trophy, a citation and a shawl each.

Instituted with the sole objective of identifying the latent talents among the hardworking women entrepreneurs of NE region and recognizing and encouraging them for their endeavor and business achievements, the  award in its second year is being collaborated by the SME Division of the State Bank of India, NE Region and the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. The award ceremony has also been organized during the IIM, Shillong annual management conclave  Emerge 2015 which will take place on 19th and 20th September, 2015.

A mild intensity tremor rattled Assam creating no less panic across the state on Friday. In a major boost wildlife conservation efforts, Goutam Narayan is the first Indian to have received the Harry Messel Award for his role to preserve the north eastern pygmy hog.   His name figured in the recent IUCN Species Survival Commission Leaders' summit in Abu Dhabi. Assam Congress president Anjan Dutta strongly criticized PB Acharya alleging that the governor has been behaving like a BJP leader.Speaking at a function at the state party headquarter in Guwahati on Friday, Dutta accused Acharya of trying to foment an orgy of communal riot in the state in the pre poll scene.Dutta criticized the governor a day after chief minister publicly tore apart Acharya for discussing political activities at the Raj Bhawan with a delegation of BJP leaders. 
Nine Haj pilgrims from Assam sustained serious injury at the Mecca stamped on Thursday. Identified as Jahanur Begum, she as been battling for life at the Al Jadid Hospital. This was stated by the ministry of external affairs in New Delhi.Four other pilgrim hailing from Karimganj district are believed to have been battling for life at the hospital. Four persons from Assam sustained injury in the Saudi Arabian tragedy where nearly one thousand Haj pilgrims died in a stamped on Thursday. All the four persons are learnt to have hailed from Karimganj district who departed Assam in the first week of August. His family members have been in touch with the Saudi Arabian authorities. At least 25 people who contested the last assembly and parliamentary polls in Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur and Nagaland won’t be able to do it till 2017. The Election Commission has disqualified these candidates for not submitting the details of their expenditures when they contested the last polls. The country’s poll panel has disqualified 3 candidates in Arunachal Pradesh. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Thursday called PB Acharya an RSS agent two days after the Assam Governor allegedly talked politics with a group of BJP leaders at the Raj Bhawan.Talking to reporters in the sidelines of a function in Guwahati, Gogoi said “the people are aware of it... he is behaving more like a Sangh (RSS) activist than a constitutional head of a state. We are going to send video footage of the speeches of the Governor to the President, Prime Minister and to the home minister and urge them to decide on his fate." The governor embroiled in controversy when he was talking to a delegation of BJP leaders at the Raj Bhawan on Tuesday triggering protest in Congress, AGP and AIUDF....
The Opposition Asom Gana Parishad has urged President Pranab Mukherjee to take action against PB Acharya alleging that the governor has turned the Raj Bhawan into a political hub.In a memorandum sent to the President, the regional party has asked his intervention into the controversial role of the governor. Talking to reporters in Guwahati on Thursday, AGP president Atul Bora said,” Acharya has made the Raj Bhavan into a BJP and RSS office and a training centre for the BJP and RSS, which is dangerous for democracy." Bora sharply criticised the governor hours after chief minister Tarun Gogoi raised the similar accusation against the governor. 
John Abraham, the owner of the North East United Football Club, launched the offocial kit of the club at Guwahati on Thursday. 
The Asom Gana Parishad has asked for President Pranab Mukherjee’s intervention on the Centre’s move to impose non Muslim Bangladeshi and Pakistani nationals in Assam. Led by AGP leader and former chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, a delegation called on the President in New Delhi on Wednesday evening where they alleged that Assam will have to bear the brunt of the recent move. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Mahanta said that the state will not remain silent if the Centre imposes anything. He said the Centre should ensure state rights over the natural resources.
