Vasundhara entrepreneur award

The 2nd Vasundhara NE Woman Entrepreneur will be conferred on September 19 at Shillong. instituted by Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, the wvent will see eight exceptionally talented women entrepreneurs from eight states of Northeast India being awarded in the state winners category and one among them being crowned with the coveted award for the year 2013-14.

M. Rajeshwar Rao, Chief General Manager, Financial Markets Operation Department, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai will grace the occasion as Chief Guest besides a host of dignitaries who will grace the occasion as distinguished guests.

Instituted in 2014 by the Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, it has emerged as a prestigious and one of a kind award and felicitation program covering the eight states of entire NE region. The award given to exceptional woman entrepreneurs with unique business ventures having a strong social commitment are selected by a selection panel constituted with eminent personalities from different sector related with entrepreneurship and business.

The state winners as has been declared by the selection panel for the  Vasundhara  NE Woman Entrepreneur of the year (2013-14) award are Lata Lepcha from Sikkim, Toko Likha Yaram from Arunachal Pradesh, T. Jemima Achumi from Nagaland, Moiregthem Muktamani Devi from Manipur, Lalhimpuii Hmar from Mizoram, Sukla Rani Debbarma from Tripura, Queency Thangkhiew from Meghalaya and Kanta Dey from Assam.

All of these women selected for the award have displayed rare sense of entrepreneurship and uniqueness in their idea and vision. For instance, while Smti T. Jemima Achumi of Nagaland has set up a fully automatic meat processing center with imported machineries from Germany and France, Toko Likha Yaram of Arunachal Pradesh has set up a cold storage at Banderdewa. Likewise Moiregthem Muktamani Devi of Manipur produces woolen knitted shoes and supplies to Indian army and also exports to countries such as UK, Australia and Korea. Their enterprises are exemplary in the otherwise male dominated sector of business and industry for which they have been identified and are being honoured, said Asomee Dutta Baruah, General Secretary of Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati.

The winner will walks away with a cash award of Rs. 25,000 besides trophy, a citation and a shawl and the eight state winners are being honoured with cash award of Rs. 10,000, a trophy, a citation and a shawl each.

Instituted with the sole objective of identifying the latent talents among the hardworking women entrepreneurs of NE region and recognizing and encouraging them for their endeavor and business achievements, the  award in its second year is being collaborated by the SME Division of the State Bank of India, NE Region and the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. The award ceremony has also been organized during the IIM, Shillong annual management conclave  Emerge 2015 which will take place on 19th and 20th September, 2015.

Assam Governor PB Acharya on Monday joined the war of wards against chief minister Tarun Gogoi a week after his alleged political consultation with a BJP delegation triggered no less controversy.Talking to reporters in the sidelines of a function at the Raj Bhawan, Acharya said that he had no political discussion with the BJP delegation that triggers so much controversy. Without naming Gogoi, the governor said somebody is confused with the imminent lose of power.Gogoi along with Congress, AGP have been taking on Acharya for his alleged political consultation with BJP leaders and MPs at the Raj Bhawan.
BJP leader Mrinal Saikia came down heavily on Akhil Gogoi saying that the KMSS leader was addicted. Addressing the reporters in Golaghat on Monday, Saikia called Gogoi a Congress agent. “Akhil is a leader who is addicted to movement and protest. He cannot live a single day without engaging in movement or protest,” said Saikia. At least 40 persons have been missing when the machine boat carrying them met with a mishap in the river Kolohi in the outskirt of Guwahati on Monday.The incident took place when the overcrowded boat carrying more than 300 people capsized in the middle of the river after it hit at wooden bridge at around one in the afternoon.Many people managed to swim out while more than 40 others are missing forcing the authority to launch a search operation by SDRF. Details are awaited.     
Security forces killed two suspected militants at an encounter in Dhubri district on Monday. The encounter took place at Chalibhui in the morning where the ultras died on the spot. Army and police jointly launched an operation in the area in the wee hours where the militants were killed at 3:50 in the morning.
