The Asom Gana Parishad has asked for President Pranab Mukherjee’s intervention on the Centre’s move to impose non Muslim Bangladeshi and Pakistani nationals in Assam.
Led by AGP leader and former chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, a delegation called on the President in New Delhi on Wednesday evening where they alleged that Assam will have to bear the brunt of the recent move.
Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Mahanta said that the state will not remain silent if the Centre imposes anything. He said the Centre should ensure state rights over the natural resources.
