Vasundhara entrepreneur award

The 2nd Vasundhara NE Woman Entrepreneur will be conferred on September 19 at Shillong. instituted by Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, the wvent will see eight exceptionally talented women entrepreneurs from eight states of Northeast India being awarded in the state winners category and one among them being crowned with the coveted award for the year 2013-14.

M. Rajeshwar Rao, Chief General Manager, Financial Markets Operation Department, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai will grace the occasion as Chief Guest besides a host of dignitaries who will grace the occasion as distinguished guests.

Instituted in 2014 by the Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, it has emerged as a prestigious and one of a kind award and felicitation program covering the eight states of entire NE region. The award given to exceptional woman entrepreneurs with unique business ventures having a strong social commitment are selected by a selection panel constituted with eminent personalities from different sector related with entrepreneurship and business.

The state winners as has been declared by the selection panel for the  Vasundhara  NE Woman Entrepreneur of the year (2013-14) award are Lata Lepcha from Sikkim, Toko Likha Yaram from Arunachal Pradesh, T. Jemima Achumi from Nagaland, Moiregthem Muktamani Devi from Manipur, Lalhimpuii Hmar from Mizoram, Sukla Rani Debbarma from Tripura, Queency Thangkhiew from Meghalaya and Kanta Dey from Assam.

All of these women selected for the award have displayed rare sense of entrepreneurship and uniqueness in their idea and vision. For instance, while Smti T. Jemima Achumi of Nagaland has set up a fully automatic meat processing center with imported machineries from Germany and France, Toko Likha Yaram of Arunachal Pradesh has set up a cold storage at Banderdewa. Likewise Moiregthem Muktamani Devi of Manipur produces woolen knitted shoes and supplies to Indian army and also exports to countries such as UK, Australia and Korea. Their enterprises are exemplary in the otherwise male dominated sector of business and industry for which they have been identified and are being honoured, said Asomee Dutta Baruah, General Secretary of Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati.

The winner will walks away with a cash award of Rs. 25,000 besides trophy, a citation and a shawl and the eight state winners are being honoured with cash award of Rs. 10,000, a trophy, a citation and a shawl each.

Instituted with the sole objective of identifying the latent talents among the hardworking women entrepreneurs of NE region and recognizing and encouraging them for their endeavor and business achievements, the  award in its second year is being collaborated by the SME Division of the State Bank of India, NE Region and the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. The award ceremony has also been organized during the IIM, Shillong annual management conclave  Emerge 2015 which will take place on 19th and 20th September, 2015.

Civil society organizations both from Assam and Nagaland at a conclave in Guwahati on Friday have agreed to help the two north eastern states restore age old trust and bonhomie. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi lambasted Narendra Modi on Friday allegedly that the Prime Minister has been maintaining a stoic silence on the Dadri incident where a 50 year old man was pu t death amid speculation of keeping beef for consumption. In a statement issued in Guwahati, Gogoi said Modi’s silence is stoic which threatened to create a rift in society on communal lines. In a bizarre kick that draws flak the North East United FC have gone down to FC Pune City 1-0 in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) in Pune on Friday evening. The goal came from the own side allowing the home team to score the unexpected victory at the end of the 94 minute thrilling match. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi reiterated his request to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to restore the Special Category Status for the north-eastern states although the process is believed to have gathered momentum.In his letter to Modi, the chief minister urged the centre to restore the funding pattern in the centrally sponsored projects fearing that it might hamper the process of development.

A special court in Guwahati jailed a DRDA project director on a bribery charge on Thursday. The ACS daughter of former Bihar and Tripura governor was caught red handed by the vigilance and anti corruption department when she took bribe from an NGO worker for releasing fund for a road work in the city. According to information, the department held her inside her office chamber after she accepted Rs 12,000 as bribe from Purna Chetry who works with Durga Sarovar Unnayan Samity.   Earlier she demanded money from the NGO for releasing the remaining amount for a road construction project. The Gauhati High Court has asked chief secretary VK Pipersenia along with a top bureaucrat to file affidavits on a number of alleged anomalies in the ACS examination conducted by the state public service commission.    Hearing a PIL filed by Okram Prasanta Singha on Thursday Chief Justice (acting) K. CBI gets remand of Manoranjana Sinh for five days a day after the media baron was arrested in connection with the Sharadha scam. A special court of Alipore remanded Manoranjana to CBI custody on Thursday when she was produced before it alleging her involvement in the multi crore scam.The country’s premier investigation agency arrested her on Wednesday at Kolkata CGO Complex for allegedly taking money from Saradha Group chairman Sudipta Sen in the name of a satellite channel. CBI has levelled charges of misappropriation of funds, cheating and criminal conspiracy against her.
