Setback for megadam construction

The mega dam meant for the Gerukamukh hydro power project fail to reach the construction site because of the week long blockade by AJYCP in Dhemaji district. AJYCP, AASU, TMPK and ATASU workers have not been allowing the dam materials to reach beyond Gogamukh for the last five days.

Talking to Assam Times the protestors said that these materials an machineries would be allowed to reach the construction venue at Gerukamukh. They have been disrupting the supply of dam materials following the arrest of 5 youths for allegedly burning truck on October 8.

“The week long blockade is the manifestation of our anger. Unidentified miscreants set the truck on fire. Police failed to find out the real miscreants and nabbed the five local youths to wash their hands off. This blockade is the best way to deal with the issue. We won’t surrender. We will complete the week long blockade,” said the protesters.
