BTAD toll goes up to 12

The death toll in BTAD areas ethnic frenzy has gone up to 12 with four persons succumbed to injuries on Friday. Seven persons including two children were killed in yet another incident of militant attack on Friday wee hours. Two persons died on the way to the hospital in Balapara village in Gossaigaon sub division where a gang of suspected NDFB-S militants indiscriminately fired upon two houses.

Security forces arrived in the spot and cordoned off the entire area before launching a combing operation in search of the militants.

The deceased were identified as Chayaton Dewa, Farida Begum, Sahana Pervin, Sona Bhanu Bibi, Julima Bibi, Batsu Alli, Rusmita and Mohur. The injured are battling for life at the Dhubri Civil Hospital.  

The incident took place hours after bicycle born militants shot dead three persons of a family in the evening. The incident took place at Anandabazar in Chirang district.
