Modi's effigy burnt

Members from Sadou Assam Goria Maria Deshi Jatiya Parsishad protested the decision of the union government to accord citizenship right to Hindu migrants from Bangladesh and burnt effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Baruapara in Kokrajhar district on Thursday. 

The parishad strongly objected and demanded early stop of decision to grant entry and stay right to Hindu migrants in Assam from Bangladesh.

The illegal migrants of Bangladesh irrespective of religion should be sent back to their country. There is no place for Hindu Bangladeshi or Muslim Bangladeshi in Assam.

Kokrajhar ready for poll

The Kokrajhar district administration is all set and geared up for the 3rd and last phase parliamentary election schedueld tomorrow in a tight security.Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Nitin Khade said the administration is fully prepared to conduct the election and ready to hold the election in free and fair manner. Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency consists of 10 Assembly segments. Milkmen killed in Kokrajhar

Suspected NDFB-S militants killed to milkmen in Kokrajhar district a day before the third and final phase of the Lok Sabha polls on Thursday.The incident took place at 11 in the morning at Bhogjhora area near Kazigaon where the motorcycle born militants shot dead Sahadut Ali and Mizanur Rahman from a close range on the road.The milkmen duo who were distributing milk died on the spot. Then the militants managed to flee from the spot. Top civil and police officials arrived in the spot and asked the local police station to find out the culprits.

Many voters in Bodo belts are likely to face hardship in reading the name of the candidates when they come to exercise their franchise on April 24 in the third phase election in the state. 12 arrested in Kokrajhar and Baksa

Police arrested 12 persons from Baksa and Kokrajhar district on Saturday for involving election related incidents.Eight persons including 5 minor students and three ABSU members last late evening from Nikashi area in Baksa district of Assam.According to sources police picked up Sonam Boro, 17(class 11), Raja Narzary, 15, (class X), Ajay Ramchiary, 15 (class X), Daoharu Boro, 18(class 12 and Rupul Ramchiary, 17 (class 11).
