The power former minister in the Tarun Gogoi cabinet formally joined the saffron party after his initial meeting with BJP president Amit Shah in New Delhi on Sunday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah reportedly, has said today that Assam will not be brought under the purview of the Inner Line Permit system . As per reports the Home Minister told a delegation from Meghalya that the Centre has no plan to bring Assam under the ILP system.
