It was a homely meeting organized at Guwahati Press Club that witnessed the release of a travel fiction titled Ontarior Seuj Dalisat (Over Green Carpet of Ontario) and penned by Dr Jagadindra Raychoudhury in presence of several senior journalists. Inaugurating the book, Swapnaneel Barua, a scholar and also a senior bureaucrat of Assam, pointed out that the writer not only documented various events related to his visit to Canada, but also painted a humanist reminiscence with his created characters.

The function, held on 1 July 2015, was also addressed by senior journalists like Hiten Mahanta, Rupam Barua, PJ Barua, Mukul Kalita, Ranen Kumar Goswami, Nava Thakuria and Pramod Kalita. Moderated by journalist Sabita Lahkar, the meeting was graced by acclaimed story writer Jyotish Sikder, professors Anup Talukder & Nirmali Medhi, singers Anindita Choudhury & Kishor Giri and Bitopan & Sneha. A prolific writer, Dr Raychoudhury is an associate professor of B Barua College, Guwahati and contributor to various Assam based newspapers and magazines. A smiling personality Dr Raychoudhury is also a regular participant in various radio programs and television talk shows. Published by Basundhara publication of Hatigaon in Guwahati, the book has 192 pages with a nice cover designed by prominent artist Padma Singha. It is priced at Rs 250/- per copy.

we know or have read many travel related books but "Ontario'r heuj dolisat" is not only a travel experience but is a travel fiction..A great experience as you keep on reading this book and gain new knowledge & issues..we expect many new books from him and wish him success..

SAF: Gogoi takes on Sonowal

He said his government would not halt the concentration. 

Security hub in Guwahati!

Guwahati is likely to get a security hub if the centre implements the recommendations of the parliamentary standing committee on home affairs. The commitee chairman Pradip Bhattacharya told chief minister Tarun Gogoi in Guwahati on Sunday that the security hub since the city is the nerve centre of all trouble. Gogoi asked Bhattacharya to stress police modernization.

NFR cancels 10 trains

The Northeast Frontier Railways on Sunday cancelled ten trains a day after the two coaches Siphung passenger train fell on a river near Kokrajhar. NFR officials told Assam Times that works are on to restore the damaged portion of the bridge forcing them to cancel ten trains including Kamakhya-Alipurduar Siphung express, Mariani-Guwahati passenger train, New Jalpaiguri-Dekargaon passenger train. These trains would be restored from Tuesday.

4 year bash underway

With much pomp and extravaganza the Tarun Gogoi government is celebrating the fourth anniversary of its third term with a 2day long event in Guwahati. All major departments are holding a huge exhibition at Sarusajai stadium to outline the 14 year long achievements. The government claims to have pulled huge crowd in the festival which chief minister Tarun Gogoi opened on Saturday. Gogoi himself joined the cultural troups in the opening function.

Gogoi flays Jaitley

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi came down heavily on Union Finance minister for alleged curtailment of central funds. Gogoi blamed it all on Jaitley saying why he accepted the new finance commission which suggested the centre to curtail central share. He further blamed Narenra Modi for the impendng financial crisis. Jaitley on Saturday said the centre hasnot curtailed the fund and that the central fund share. "We are following the recommditions. If he wants this pattern to be replaced Gogoi should write," said Jaitley.
