It was a homely meeting organized at Guwahati Press Club that witnessed the release of a travel fiction titled Ontarior Seuj Dalisat (Over Green Carpet of Ontario) and penned by Dr Jagadindra Raychoudhury in presence of several senior journalists. Inaugurating the book, Swapnaneel Barua, a scholar and also a senior bureaucrat of Assam, pointed out that the writer not only documented various events related to his visit to Canada, but also painted a humanist reminiscence with his created characters.
The function, held on 1 July 2015, was also addressed by senior journalists like Hiten Mahanta, Rupam Barua, PJ Barua, Mukul Kalita, Ranen Kumar Goswami, Nava Thakuria and Pramod Kalita. Moderated by journalist Sabita Lahkar, the meeting was graced by acclaimed story writer Jyotish Sikder, professors Anup Talukder & Nirmali Medhi, singers Anindita Choudhury & Kishor Giri and Bitopan & Sneha. A prolific writer, Dr Raychoudhury is an associate professor of B Barua College, Guwahati and contributor to various Assam based newspapers and magazines. A smiling personality Dr Raychoudhury is also a regular participant in various radio programs and television talk shows. Published by Basundhara publication of Hatigaon in Guwahati, the book has 192 pages with a nice cover designed by prominent artist Padma Singha. It is priced at Rs 250/- per copy.

we know or have read many travel related books but "Ontario'r heuj dolisat" is not only a travel experience but is a travel fiction..A great experience as you keep on reading this book and gain new knowledge & issues..we expect many new books from him and wish him success..

Two pilots had a narrow escape when the Sukhoi jet they were driving crashlanded in Tezpur on Tuesday. The incident took place in the morning when the Sukhoi-30 jet caught fire in the sky near Tezpur. The pilot duo managed to eject immediately before the jet crashlanded at an open space. Notorious car lifter Anil Chauhan has been brought to Tihar jail. Delhi police are likely to seek Chauhan in their remand to grill him in connection with a number of cases pending against him. Police are all prepared to move a local court in Delhi after they got the car lifter on transit remand. Chauhan, his wife were held along with Borkhola MLA Rumi Nath and her estrange husband Jakie Jackob in April.
A CBI special court on Tuesday sentenced a senior ONGC officer to 5 year imprisonment in a bribery case. Identified as Purna Kanta Bora, general manager(civil) was caught by the country's premier investigation agency two years back for accepting Rs 1 lakh from a contractor. The special court further fined him Rs 50,000 in the same offence.
Normal train services to and from Guwahati remained heavily disrupted when local residents in Khetri and Dimoria blocked the trains at Digaru raising an old demand on Monday. Hundreds of local residents assembled a Digaru and squatted on the rail tracks demanding a manned level crossing to ensure their safety. The blockade forced as many ten trains halt on the way to and from Guwahati. The blockade lasted for around 3 hours. Chief minister Tarun Gogoi vows to leave no stone unturned to ensure allround development saying that he is firm on his commitment. In a statement he released on Sunday a day before the end of fourth year in the third consecutive term, he claimed to have restored financial stability to concentrate on sustainable development.
