Thousands of people travelling on two trains had a narrow escape when security forces recovered an IED on the railway tracks in Goalpara district on Friday.The powerful IED was recovered just fifteen minutes before a passenger train was scheduled to cross the spot.Security forces had a routine check on the railway track just a few km away from Dudhnoi where they spotted a suspicious packet where the IED was planted.N outfit has so far claimed the responsibility. Huge amount of explosives were recovered from the busy Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) in Guwahati today.Three bags containing the explosives that included gelatin sticks, bar coils etc were found in a waiting room of the terminus during a regular check by the police. Police has taken into custody two persons for interrogation.
Acting on a tip off, ChildLine with the help of CID rescued 22 children bound for a Himachal from the Guwahati Railway station today. The children in the age group of 4 to12 were brought from various districts of Assam, Manipur and Tripura were gathered at the Guwahati platform before their final send off to a monastery in Himachal, said a ChildLine official.
