Two newly BTAD elected members are likely to land in trouble after a local organization questions their eligibility to contest the polls.
A civil body representing indigenous communities has challenged the eligibility of Arpana Das and Ranendra Muchahary in the recent BTAD polls.
The organization filed cases against the two members alleging that Das who contested 12 Salakati (Scheduled Tribes) constituency lacks credibility.
They alleged that Das belongs to the Sarania community, which is not notified as ST under Article 342(1)(2) of the Constitution.
It alleged that Das had procured a ST certificate claiming to be from the Boro Kachari community.
Another case was also filed against Amenur Islam who contested from 2 Guma (open) constituency. The organization alleged that Islam is not a voter of the constituency.
