Dr. Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti Assumes Leadership Role in Delphic Council of North East India

Dr. Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti, a respected author and cultural advocate from Assam, has been elected as the Secretary General of the Delphic Council of North East India (DCNE). This announcement came during an online general body meeting held on August 4th.

Under the guidance of Jahnabi Phookan, the Past National President of FICCI FLO, who serves as the initiator and advisor, and Swapnanil Barua as President, DCNE is poised for a new era of cultural enrichment.

During the meeting, accomplished artist Gaurab Kr Hazarika was chosen as the treasurer and entrusted with the additional responsibility of overseeing the organization of Delphic Clubs, an integral component of DCNE's engagement strategy.

The advisory panel of DCNE now includes IPS officer and poet Parthasarathi Mahanta and ICOMOS expert Dilip Changkakoti, enhancing the council's diverse expertise.

Directors were elected to lead different artistic disciplines: Ms. Sunita Bhuyan for Musical Arts and Sound, Dr. Mallika Kandali for Performing Arts and Acrobatics, Mr. Mridu Moucham Bora for Visual Arts and Crafts, and Mr. Papu Das for Social Arts.

In a bid to foster internal communication, the organization has decided to launch a newsletter, with Dr. Rupjyoti Oja at the helm as the editor.

The Delphic Council, headquartered in Berlin, stands as an international organization akin to the Olympics, but for art and culture. The Delphic Games, first held in Georgia in 1997, serve as a global platform uniting diverse cultures through artistic expression and idea exchange. The games encompass competitions across six distinct art categories.

Of note, the Delphic Council of North East India stands out as the sole representative for the region on the global Delphic stage. Operating in the spirit of the Greek amphictyony, it acts as a unified council for the eight Northeastern states. With a membership of 48 distinguished individuals including writers, academics, artists, and musicians, DCNE is set to promote the vibrant culture of the region.

Ashok Singh, Secretary General of the Delphic Council of India, was present at the general body meeting and advised DCNE to organize a Delphic Art Event preceding the Delphic Games, echoing the momentum and success of their cultural initiatives.
