Nazira R-Day: Unexpected indeed

The weather in Nazira was agog with activities for 66th Republic Day celebrations along with other parts of the country on Monday. The arrangement passed off smoothly.

The clock struck at 9 in the morning. Civil SDO Mauchumi Baruah proceeded to unfurl the tricolor.

But the bizarre incident took place much to the major embarrassment of the administration. As she tried to unfurl the tricolor, the flag refused to flutter leaving the senior administrative officials red faced.

Then they brought another flag which started fluttering in the sky. Talking to Assam Times, the local residents blamed it all on the administration for utter carelessness which was why the SDO was left red faced. Later she took salute of the police, NCC, and para military forces.
