VDP Bhawan inaugurated

BTAD Inspector General of Police(IGP),Dr L R Bishnoi inaugurated the newly constructed VDP Bhawan at Kokrajhar Sadar police station complex in the presence of high police officers on Tuesday.  It was constructed from police welfare fund for the welfare of VDP men in the district.

Women's national football championship

Preparations are on foot to host the 21st senior women's national football championship-2015-16  for North East zone to be started from December 18 here at Kokrajhar district sports association (KDSA) ground in Kokrajhar. Ankur Dutta, secretary of the Assam Football Association while addressing the reporters today KDSA office told that all kinds of preparations to host the national event has got under way. KRUF warns to boycott BJP, Congress

The Koch Rajbongsi United Forum (KRUF), an umbrella organisation of Koch Rajbongsi community has warned to boycott both BJP, Congress if their demands of granting ST status, creation of separate Kamatapur state are not meet ahead the assembly election or within this December. Kamatapur bandh affects normal life in Kokrajhar

Normal life in Kokrajhar, heart town of BTAD administration was paralyzed today following 24-hours Kamatapur bandh called by Koch Rajbongsi United Forum demanding granting of Scheduled Tribes (ST) status, creation of separate Kamatapur state.  All kinds of road transport communication, business institutions like bank, bazaar, market, shop were remained closed during the bandh which was started from 5AM today.  Main road in Kokrajhar along with 31C national Highway was look deserted following the bandh. Preparations to hold the National Handloom expo 2015-16 here at Sudempuri has so far completed by this evening which will be kicked off from Monday in Kokrajhar. Documentary film screened

A documentary film “The Lost Horizon”, based on impact of violence on the lives of women and children in BTC was screened at  Recreation Hall, Central Institute of Technology (CIT), Kokrajhar  before a seclected audience on Friday. Made by three youths- Dhajen Basumatary, Subash Rai and Jayanta Narzary, a NSD graduate, the film is a product of the Peace fellowship project supported by National Foundation for India, New Delhi in collaboration with Foundation for Social Transformation, Guwahati. The 13th biennial conference of the All Assam Govt Driver & Handyman Association concluded after a three-day long programme here at Science College complex on Sunday in Kokrajhar.  BTC deputy chief guest Kampa Borgoyary graced the open session as chief guest on the concluding day.
