Aiming to strengthen the party ahead of the early next year Assam Assembly election, the United Peoples’ Party (UPP) organised a party workshop cum awareness programme among its party workers at Bhatarmari in Kokrajhar on Sunday.
Around a 1000 party workers from various parts of the district participated in the workshop. The workshop was participated among others by party president UG Brahma, vice president Pratibha Brahma, Rwngwra Narzary, All BTC Anusuchit Jatio Parisad president Satyaban Mandal, Suraj Basumatary President Kokrajhar District UPP, MCLAs of UPP were present in the programme among others.
Participating in the workshop Urkhaogwra Brahma,president of UPP and ex Rajya Sabha MP told reporters that UPP will field candidate in 17 constituencies all over the state. The UPP also criticised the ruling BPF in BTC of indulging in corruption, sipphoning off public money meant for development.
On the question of alliance, he said they are open for alliance or seat sharing with other political party as per their condition to rest of development peace and prosperity for BTAD. He said the party will announce the party candidates for the assembly election in January.
