VDP Bhawan inaugurated

BTAD Inspector General of Police(IGP),Dr L R Bishnoi inaugurated the newly constructed VDP Bhawan at Kokrajhar Sadar police station complex in the presence of high police officers on Tuesday.  It was constructed from police welfare fund for the welfare of VDP men in the district.

Results suggest bright future in BTAD

The percentage of HSLC and HS successful candidates in BTAD districts seems to have suggested a brighter future. In Kokrajhar district, over all pass percentage in Arts stream is 65 %, Science 82 % and commerce 49.6% percent respectively. Free medical camp

A free health check-up camp was organized by MRM Memorial Hospital, a private managed hospital at Debargaon community hall on Sunday in Kokrajhar. Managing Director of the hospital Sewli Mohilary inaugurated the free medical camp in the presence of Dr KC Medhi, superintendent of the hospital. Around 500 children and local residents from greater Debargaon area attended the health check –up camp as well as the children of Alayaran Anath Ashram were also benefited in the camp. Mohilary rejuvenates development

The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mohilary urges to maintain peace and harmony among all section of society as there is apprehension of mistrust in the aftermath of election. Four arrested

Police arrested four youths for involving with stolen of computers from Dhawliguri ITI,Kokrajhar which was recovered on Wednesday from North Shukanjhora under Kokrajhar police station. The computers of the ITI were stolen by thefts on last May 7 and the concern office had lodged an FIR with police and investing the incident police manage to apprehend the involved culprits on Thursday, said a senior police officer in Kokrajhar. The youths have been identified as Ranjit Narzary,KwrwmdaoNarzary,Swmbla Narzary and Gurdo Boro of  North Shukanjhora. A complaint was registered as 197/14 and  u/s 380 IPC with police.

Noted writer and retired IRS Janaklal Basumatary unveiled ‘the Saga of the Bodos’, a history book authored by noted historian and educationist Hiracharan Narjinary at a programme held at Sahara Hotel in Kokrajhar on Thursday. Narjinary, writer and publisher of the book said this book is a story of the people called Bodos, who are one of the most ancient races of eastern India. Stolen computers recovered

The activities of theft has been run over in Kokrajhar town where the police recovered six sets of computers including various material sets from North Shukanjhora village on Wednesday under Kokrajhar Police station. A police team from Kokrajhar police station led by Sub Inspector (SI) Banita Das carried a massive investigation having theft information at Kokrajhar ITI Dhawliguri where six sets of computers along with four monitors, nine CPU, five  UPS, six mouse, eight speakers, five card, seven keyboard and five monitor stands were recovered from North Shukanjhora village. 2 killed

 Two persons were killed and ten others sustain injury in police firing at Panabari under Bijni police station in Chirang district just after declaration of election result for Kokrajhar Lok Sabha today. Sources said, security forces shot at a youth this morning, who he received bullet injury at Panabari area,local publics after that gheraoed the Panbari police outpost .Later, police fired to the public to disperse the publics where two youths killed and ten persons received bullet injury.

Independent candidate backed by Janagostiya Aikhya Manch and ULFA (Pro-talk) leader Naba Kumar Sarania(Hira) won the No. 5 Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat at a huge votes.Sarania defeated his nearest Independent candidate Urkhao Gwra Brahma by a margin of over three lakhs of votes.BPF candidate Chandan Brahma adjusted third spot in the election.
