VDP Bhawan inaugurated

BTAD Inspector General of Police(IGP),Dr L R Bishnoi inaugurated the newly constructed VDP Bhawan at Kokrajhar Sadar police station complex in the presence of high police officers on Tuesday.  It was constructed from police welfare fund for the welfare of VDP men in the district.

Grenade recovered

An IED weighing of around 4 kgs was recovered from Jadumani village under Fakiragram police station late last night, a day ahead of parliamentary election result counting tomorrow in Kokrajhar. Police said that getting tiptop information about the IED police raided the area and recovered the IED last night wee hour from a house. Police arrested two persons identified as Kripa Roy and Jayanta Roy for involving keeping with IED which was kept by KLO militants. The IED was later diffused by bomb squad expert in Kokrajhar, police added. 

Brahma alleges thin security

Independent candidate backed by ABSU and its allied organizations like BPPF, UDPF, PJACBM and NDFB (P) Urkhao Gwra  Brahma of Kokrajhar Lok Sabha  has alleged that there is thin security arrangement in the strong room as well as in the district, which had witnessed violence recently in the region after parliamentary election.He has expressed his feared that there was suspect ion of EVM tempering during recent BTAD violence by the ruling party, as there was no tight security in the strong room and entire region. Minority Commission Chairman visits Balapara

The Chairman of Minority Commission of India Nasheem Ahmed visited Balapara village to take stock of the situation in Kokrajhar on Sunday. Ahmed said that there is an apprehension among the common public that large violence would be erupted after the poll result on May 16. He said that operation against the militants would be lunched immediately in the sensitive areas. Ahmed said that the killing of innocent peoples at Balapara in Kokrajhar and Baksa district was unfortunate. Arms and ammunitions recovered

Assam Police and CRPF jawans apprehended a person and recovered huge arms and ammunitions on Sunday evening at Chapaguri in Chirang district. Security forces intercepted a Maruti WagonR with one M16 Rifle, silencer, one .303 rifle and 140 round ammunitions. Police arrested one Rajkumar Prasad, hailing from Dimapur. The arms and ammunitions suspected for NDFB(S), police said.

AIUDF leader killed

Police arrested three persons in connection with the killing of AIUDF leader Suleman Ali Mandal in Gossaigaon on Thursday.Familiy members said that Suleman was murdered late last by three youth of the same village at around 11.30 pm when they called for night duty in the village. Later they recovered his body. The murderer had also looted cash Rupees 20,000 and an ATM card.The culprits were identified as Jamad Sheik, Khale Ali Sheik and Abdul Sheik.

CM's door to door visit in Balapara

CM to visit BTAD

Security has been beefed up in the BTAD area on the eve of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi’s visit on Wednesday to take stock of the sitution in the region. Gogoi will visit in Baksa and Kokrajhar. He is likely to land at Narayanguri at around 12 pm and at Balapara at 2 pm. 

BPPF demands free and fair investigation

Mohilary demands more police

BPF President and BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary demanded more police station and police outpost in the BTAD area to counter militancy as well as anti-social activity. Mohilary said that the council had demanded for establishing more police station and outposts in the remote areas of BTAD, but yet government has not been giving stressed on the demands.
