Bwiswmuthiary heads BPC

The All Assam Bodo Peoples’ Confederation (AABPC), a new platform aiming at keeping to united all Bodo groups across the state of Assam  was formed at a general meeting held at Tribal Rest House on July 6 in Guwahati.

Speaking the reporters on Tuesday at a press conference in Kokrajhar, former Lok Sabha MP Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary said the confederation was formed at a general meeting attended from all nationalist, democratic, committed, dedicated and conscientious Bodo individuals and far sighted intellectuals aiming at keeping united all Bodo groups of people living in Assam state in order to help ensure the question of the survival and existence, the safety and security and also over all progress and development of the whole Bodo people in the backdrop of the ongoing most crucial and challenging over all circumstances in the wake of the whirlwind of the new world order in terms of globalization, liberalization and privatization of all systems of the progress and development of the globe.

He said the meeting has also resolved to depute a delegation team to New Delhi to meet new NDA Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Ministers to apprising them of the urgent need of addressing all the long pending burning issues of the Bodo people with special mention to the long overdue question of the creation of a separate state of Bodoland ,granting of autonomous council to the indigenous Bodo-Tribal  people living outside the jurisdiction of BTAD and other autonomous councils.

He has demanded that Boro-Kochary living within Karbi-anglong and Dima Hasao Autonomous  Council of Assam should be included in the list of ST(Hills) as per the clause no. 8 of the Bodo Accord,2003,granting of permanent land pattas to the indigenous tribal people under the Scheduled Tribes and other traditionally forest dwellers right over the forest land act 2006 with immediate effect,restoration of the alienated lands to the tribal people within the respective tribal belts and blocks and elsewhere, enforcement of the chapter X of the Assam Land Revenue Manual 1886(Amended in 1947) in letter and spirit, enhanced of the Reserve quota for ST(Plains) in the state government services and in admissions into educational institutions from the present Quota of 10% to 20% and also the maintainence of Reserve Quota in promotion in services of the ST(Plains) and many others long pending issues.

He said the confederation was formed comprising 17 members with Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary, former Lok Sabha MP as President and Anil Basumatary, former vice president of ABSU as Chief Convener. He said the confederation will be expanded in all India level by August next, besides forming of state committees in Nagaland, Tripura, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Delhi, Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Hyderabad and Gujrat to working for welfare Bodo-tribal peoples where substantial Bodo people are working and living permanently and periodically as well across the country .

He has expressed his hopeful that the confederation will extend both moral and active support to all democratic Bodo organizations that are dedicated and committed to work for various, common causes of the Bodo nation without any selfish motive and vested interests.
