Dr MMS is the MP from Assam and he should take the moral responsibilty for the violence. The UPA and state government who had been ruling for the last 10 years must be blamed for such butchery. But Congress sees only shadow of Modi on anything. The Congress leaders leaders who used to revel in the luxury and comforts in Delhi offices were always apathetic towards the violence in Kashmir and Punjab during the 1970's and 1980's. The secular leaders were more philosohical and much less practical in understanding the problems of people in all parts of the country. There was similar violence in 2012 in NE. Then the government should have take precautionary measures to avert the occurance of similar incidents. When there is NO capable ruler or leader at the centre, the state governments will also follow the anarchy. "Yatha Raja Thatha Praja" means "AS THE RULER SO THE RULED". If the king of the country is of good character, with good heart and always thinking of well-being of his subjects, and if he is a spiritual thinker and peaceful minded, his subjects will be like him in all these ways too
B G Verghese is no more. The award winning author and veteran journalist died at his own residence in Gurgaon on Tuesday evening. He was 87. The relentless crusader for the underprivileged is a famous figure for Assam. He is known for his immense contribution for the entire north eastern region. Various organizations and individuals have condoled his death in Assam. His body would be cremated at the Lodi Road Crematorium on Thursday.
The toll in the cycle of violence has reached 80 with the recovery yet another body in Kokrajhar on Tuesday. Identified as Som Murmu, the Adivasi man was believed to have been killed by NDFB-S whose body was recovered from Ultapani Santipur village under Bishmuri police outpost.The body was found in a decomposed state who was believed to have been killed on December 23 at Santipur.
After months of will-it-won’t-it, the Assam government has announced police commissionerate on Tuesday. The machinery would come in to force from Thursday. Police Commissioner is Jyotirmoy Chakrabarti while ANM Haque is joint police commissioner. The Guwahati police commissionerate would have four deputy police commissioner. A Bodo novel titled Malotini Dao Moina, penned by Akedemy award winner author Bidyasagar Narzary, was released on December 29, 2014 in Guwahati book fair. Eminent journalist DN Chakrabarty, while releasing the novel, appreciated the literary works of Narzery, who used to work as a high profile officer in Press Information Bureau. A massive earthquake jolted Assam and its neighbouring north eastern states on Monday creating no less panic among the people in some parts.The quake was felt at 10.55 at night forcing many people in the high rise buildings in Guwahati to come out of their homes. The epicenter and intensify of the quake is yet to be known.
