Translation holds the key to take the literature in to a new high. But the works should maintain a high standard of quality. These are more or less of what authors, journalists and publishers said on the last day of the Guwahati Lit Fest on Monday.
Participating in a panel discussion moderated by Triveni Goswami Mathur, author and senior journalist DN Bezbaruah stressed translation that makes literature rich.
Another panelist Madan Sarma said that a translator must keep in mind his duties and responsibilities. He or she must have a good command over the language.
Somak Ghosal, who was one of the panelists said that the translation is indeed a challenging job that requires sound knowledge to build the bridge between the author and readers.
