Constable killed, two others injured
A police constable was killed and another two personnel injured in poll related violence at Harabhangha LP School under Tulsibil Police outpost in Kokrajhar on Thursday. Polling officers engaged in polls said that there was a rumor about the faulty in the Electronic Voting Machine where the supporters of a particular party create mayhem in the polling station.
Sector Officer (Sub Inspector) Yunnis Ali along with three constables rushed to the spot but was surrounded by a mob. The mob manhandled the police officer and in retaliation the police had to blank fire to disperse the crowd. Pinku Rahang, Sonapur of Kamrup district a police constable succumbs to the head injuries. Sector Officer Yunnis Ali and Police constable Nileswar Roy police were also injured and shifted to Kokrajhar RNB Civil Hospital and Bongaigaon Lower Assam Hospital for the treatment. Police said that 2 Insas Rifles were also missing.
IGP (BTAD) L R Bishnoi, Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar visited the area and took stock of the situation.
IGP (BTAD) Bishnoi said that the miscreants vandalized 5 polling stations in the Tulsibil area under Gossaigaon sub-division. Bishnoi also said that 6 persons were arrested in connection with the case and follow up action will be taken.
The senior police officer also said that the EVM machine was not faulty and the rumour has broke out an argument with the villagers and polling officers which took to the bloody turn of killing one police constable.
He said that it to be a pre planned and the matter is being investigated. One private vehicle was also torched by the miscreants at Madhurjhar, he said adding that six persons apprehended from the area involved with incidents.

As many as 13 fishermen were arrested by Bhutan Royal Army on Tuesday inside deep jungle of Sarpang district of Bhutan while going illegally into the neighboring country.
