Waiting for Rahul Gandhi

Amid a massive security arrangement, people thronging in thousands in Biswanath Chariali to attend Rahul Gandhi’s rally on Monday.

Security forces are fanning across the district to thwart any move by NDFB-S militants to disrupt Gandhi’s poll rally to campaign for Tezpur party candidate Bhupen Bora.

Senior party leaders told Assam Times that security forces are guarding hundreds of buses deployed by the party to ferry people to the rally at the Kamala Kanta Khetra.

Gandhi is scheduled to arrive in Tezpur at 11 in the morning. Then he would straightly leave for Biswanath Charilai to hold the rally. He would fly to Dibrugarh at 1-30 in the afternoon.      

Massive security arrangement is required in the entire district in view of NDFB-S militants’ 12 hour bandh to oppose Rahul Gandhi’s visit.

Rahul's rally in Assam is equally important. He has been strength of congress party and he has given its party a breakthrough. His efforts were transformed into actions.

One can see that Rahul Gandhi's popularity is rising day by day. He is very much popular among the young generation and also among the people at the grassroot level. He is putting good efforts in reaching out to people.

Not worried about Modi: CM

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that he had nothing to be worried about Narendra Modi who is holding a huge rally in Guwahati on Saturday.Talking to reporters in Sivasagar in the sidelines of a function, Gogoi said that the huge rally in Khanapara will hardly help BJP woo the voters.He said that the people are aware of the country’s political scenario and UPA performance. “Yes, let them hold the huge rally in Guwahati. Khanapara area in Guwahati breaks out into a sea of humanity where Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is holding a rally on Saturday.The BJP’s prime ministerial candidate is scheduled to land that the Borjhar airport at 1 in the afternoon. Then he would straightly leave for Sarausajai by a helicopter form where he would go to the rally venue at the veterinary playground by car.BJP workers from far flung areas across the state started arriving in the city from Friday afternoon. Tea garden official kidnapped

Majarbhuyan expelled

Hazarika’s effigy burnt

Asom Yuva Parishad activists burnt the effigy of Padma Hazarika alleging his intentional mistake in the voting exercise in the Rajya Sabha polls on Friday.Several AYP activists thronged the AGP headquarters in the evening after the announcement of the poll results. Before that it was confirmed that the ballot paper was cancelled.Some other party activities shouted slogans demanding expulsion of the Sotea MLA alleging his intentional mistake in the ballot paper.

No politics further: Hussain

Opposition consensus candidate Haidor Hussain said that he would further refrain from active political party.After his defeat in the Rajya Sabha polls on Friday, he told reporters in Dispur that his defeat was on the expected line in view of the gradual erosion of unity among the Opposition parties.But he said he agreed to give his consent to the proposal in view of overwhelming support from across the state. He had to remain satisfied with only 26 votes.

AGP suspends Hazarika

The Opposition Asom Gana Parishad has suspended Padma Hazarika for 6 years alleging his intentional mistake in the voting in the Rajya Sabha polls.The decision was taken at the party’s steering committee meeting after the announcement of the poll results.Senior party leaders agreed that the mistake was intentional which was why, his vote was cancelled giving a big blow to the prospect of the Opposition consensus candidate Haidor Hussain.
