Sports workshop in Charaideo
NAMRUP: The Maibella army camp under the aegis of DAO Division organised a summer sports workshop of football and athletics for the children of the Mathurapur Higher Secondary School of Charaideo. The workshop is being conducted with the aim of promoting sports and nurturing the habit of healthy living among the younger generation. The workshop saw the attendance of over 500 children and locals. The workshop plans to cater the needs of budding players by providing a dedicated coach for both football and athletics. The villagers also volunteered for the workshop and displayed a way to healthy living. The workshop was supported by the Maibella Army Camp in terms of sports equipment and nutrition.The locals appreciated the initiative by the Army and requested that activities and events of such nature to be organized more often. The army conducted the workshop as a part of Indian Army's efforts to spread awareness about the sports and the healthy way of living.

People in the Namrup daily bazar paid their homage to the Pulwama martyrs.
The programme was organsied by daily bazaar shop keepers assoctiation and local people of the area.
The 11 hour Assam bandh called by North East Students Organization ( NESO ) and All Assam Student Union ( AASU ) , supported by many other organizations opposing the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 was total in Namrup. The town wore a deserted look as vehicles of all kinds remained off the road. Schools and colleges, shops and markets, banks and offices were seen closed. The bandh supporters burnt tyers at Namrup Sonari Tiniali , BVFCL Main Gate , APL Main Gate and Sarmah Tiniali to stop the movement of vehicles.
The Namrup regional unit of All Assam Student Union ( AASU ) organsied protest against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 by blocking the road and burning tyers at Sonari tiniali. The demonstrators shouted slogans against the state and central governments exibiting play card "Kendriya Government Hai Hai, Raijya Sarkar Murdabad, Mukhyamantri kam nai". More than one hundred AASU activists and local people took part in the protest.
The year long Golden Jubilee of Namrup Sahitya Sabha is coming to an end with various cultural programmes. The programme was inagurated by working president Satrasingh Deuri. Seminar, poetry, cultural night, Book release were part of the event.

The largest ancient Hindu festival, dedicated to Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya (known to be the wife of Surya), Chhath Puja is unique to the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and the country of Nepal. It is the only Vedic festival that is dedicated to the Sun God. The festival was celebrated in Namrup and it's neighbouring area with flavours on Tuesday.
Namrup: There was total bandh in Namrup during the Assam Bandh called by 46 organisations in the state opposing citizenship amendment Bill 2016. Protesters burnt tyres in BVFCL Main Gate, Sonari Tiniali, Namghar Chariali, Salibasa. Marketing complex, Schools, colleges, Government and private offices, Banks were all closed during the bandh.
