Generator thieves held, stolen items recovered
RAHA: Raha police on Tuesday arrested two miscreants and recovered 2 Ahuja Sound Box and 1 Generator , all to the tune of over Rs. 50,000 from their possession.
Mrigen Saikia, officer in-charge of Raha police station, told Assam Times that the accused persons were identified as Raktim Patar, s/o Anil Patarof Lauphulabori and Rakib Hussain, s/o Nur Hussain of Dighaliati Ati gaon area under Raha PS. The first accused was a daily wage earner while the other was an E-rikshaw driver.
Acting on the complaint lodged by one Barsha Seuji Nath, secretary of Dighaliati Gaon Panchayat, police apprehended the accused from their respective villages. The recovered items were stolen from the conference hall of Dighaliati Gaon Panchayat office.
" We received a tip-off about the thieves location on Tuesday. We laid a trap and took them into custody," the Officer in-charge said.
When police interrogated the accused regarding the purchase of the materials, they could not show any paper documents and confessed to the police of committing the crime, Saikia further added.
Meanwhile, the accused were booked with a Raha P S case no. 328 / 21 under sections 457 and 380 of the IPC.

RAHA: A dreaded dacoit died and another sustained serious injury when a gang war took place in Nagaon on Sunday. The incident took place at Nagabandha in the wee hours where a group of armed dacoits were travelling on a vehicle. As they reached Juria suddenly they spotted another gang and started gun firing at each other. RAHA: Two minor boys met watery grave when the duo along with a few others were going to bath in a river in Nagaon district on Saturday. The incident took place in Chapormukh area at around 11.30 in the morning as they were bathing on the river Kopili. Suddenly, the river water current washed Akash Rai and Mukti Prasad Bora—both studying in Hansora School who failed to bail out of the strong undercurrent. Local residents in large number along with SDRF personnel arrived in the spot and fished out the bodies leaving a pall of gloom in the area.

RAHA: In a stepped up crackdown across the state against the illegal coal traders, the police in Raha intercepted five coal truck on Tuesday. Acting on a tip off the policeman on the National Highway No 37 seized the five trucks loaded with coal early in the morning. The drivers, who have been detained, confessed to have brought the huge consignment to Guwahati from Jowai in Meghalaya. Interrogation is going on. JAGIROAD: Amid an escalating shock and anger over the rape and murder incident in Nagaon, the Khetri police in Morigaon district caught a youth for trying to molest a minor girl on Monday. The incident took place at Kahikuchi near the National Highway No 37 on Sunday evening when the Class VI girl was forcibly taken away to a place by a local youth who raped her and left away. The local residents and family members rescued her and moved the police station with a complaint. Acting on the complaint the police have arrested the accused Raufik Ali.
