Resurfacing dissidence

Dissidence seems to have resurfaced in Assam Congress legislature party.

Led by Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, the anti-Gogoi lobby is trying to mount pressure on the high command to remove Tarun Gogoi as Chief Minister apprehending adverse impact in the Lok Sabha polls.

The education minister on Wednesday called on Congress president Sonia Gandhi as part of the mission.

Dr Sarma is believed to have told the high command that if Gogoi is retained, the party would have to face the music.

He is also understood to have submitted a list of 50 legislators against Gogoi.
