Assam Gramin Vikash Bank at Raha

The new branch of the Assam Gramin Vikash Bank at Raha was formally inaugurated by Himsagar Upadhyay, Reginal Manager, Golaghat today here at Raha. Educationist and ex-principal of Raha H.S.School Hiranya Narayan Bora graced the occasion as Chief guest and lit the inaugural lamp.

Addressing to the gathering the Reginal Manager said that Raha branch is the 383 rolling branch of Assam Gramin Vikash Bank in Assam and will definitely give a boost to the local economy and people will enjoy modern banking facility now. “ Banks open branches expecting people to deposit money and seek credit,which indicate development and growth. I hope this branch will fulfill the dreams of the local people, “ he said.

Uttam Bhadra, the branch manager while talking to this correspondent said, “ We want to build a strong relationship not only with the customers of the bank but also with the local people here. We will offer every banking product be it saving bank account, current accounts, demand accounts, all type of investment products, Agri loans, auto loans, Home Loans and all variants of debit and credit cards. “

Bank officials Pankaj Bora, Rupali Barua, Prasanna Bhuyan, were also present during the inauguration of the bank. The occasion was also attended by Dr. Bedabrata Lahkar, Principal , Raha college,Tarun Saikia , Branch Manager Punjab National Bank, Raha branch, Nirala Devi, Principal, Basic Training Centre, Raha, Kama Ch. Sharma,ex-principal,Raha H.S.School, Jatindra Paroi, ex-Deptt. Head , Geography,Raha college, and Padmadhar Kakati, retired teacher, Raha H.S.School besides the local people.

Sikh delegation visits Chapormukh Gurudwara

Another Nagaon accused held in Jagiroad

The Nagaon police have arrested yet another youth in connection with the recent incident where a tractor dealer along with his associated assaulted a group of former rebels as they were raising funds to feed to flood hit people.  Identified as Manoranjan Das alias Manoj, the elder brother of the main accused Raju Das was caught in Jagiroad on Tuesday wee hours.  Police interrogation is going on and he is expected to be produced before the chief judicial magistrate in the afternoon.

Biker dead in Roha mishap

A biker died on the spot when his two wheelers rammed into a stranded truck in Raha on Monday.  Identified as Hirakjyoti Pathak, he was on his way to home in Kampur and as he reached Kakotigaon area, his speedy vehicle rammed into the truck.  Local residents and police rushed him to the hospital where had was declared brought dead.

Torch rally to warn anti-national gang

Normal life in Raha  in the central Assam district of Nagaon remained paralyzed  on Monday following a 12 hour local bandh call by the former rebels in protest against the recent attack on a few of their colleagues at Panigaon.  Roads in this entire sub urban area wore a deserted look from 5 in the morning for 12 hours as vehicles refused to ply. Akhil arrest triggers massive protest

The Tezpur police have arrested Akhil Gogoi when the influential peasant leader was leading a huge protest in the Sonitpur district headquarters demanding land part as for the landless lot.  Barely one hours after the KMSS leader was arrested his fans and activists hit the streets in many places demanding his unconditional release paralyzing traffic movement on the road.  In Doboka, KMSS leaders in large numbers spilled to the roads in protest against Gogoi’s arrest. Normal life in Chapormukh area in the central Assam district of Nagaon comes to a grinding halt on Sunday following a local bandh call by a few organizations in protest against the recent attack on former rebels at Panigaon.  Roads in this area are remaining deserted as vehicles are off from the roads. Shops and markers are not opening anywhere in the entire area under the impact of the bandh call which began at 6.00 in the morning.  Apprehending stray incidents, the security forces ate fanning in the area from early in the morning. Former rebels threaten to resume armed conflict

 A huge crowd in Nagaon on Friday warned of a fierce armed struggle to counter the attack on the indigenous people by s section of the outsiders. Speakers after speakers in the massive meetings of thr former ULFA rebels strongly advocated a full circle armed struggle to ensure the rights of the indigenous people over the state’s resources. ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa said that the need of the hour is an armed struggle to restore the rights of the indigenous lots in Assam. “We are running out of the patience.
