Bandh hits Chapormukh

Normal life in Chapormukh area in the central Assam district of Nagaon comes to a grinding halt on Sunday following a local bandh call by a few organizations in protest against the recent attack on former rebels at Panigaon.

Roads in this area are remaining deserted as vehicles are off from the roads. Shops and markers are not opening anywhere in the entire area under the impact of the bandh call which began at 6.00 in the morning.

Apprehending stray incidents, the security forces ate fanning in the area from early in the morning. The bandh supporters in many places are moving to enforce the call. There is no report of any incident. The bandh ends in the evening.

A trader along with a few of his associates severally assaulted a team of former rebels as they were raising funds to feed the flood hit people.
