Akhil arrest triggers massive protest
The Tezpur police have arrested Akhil Gogoi when the influential peasant leader was leading a huge protest in the Sonitpur district headquarters demanding land part as for the landless lot.
Barely one hours after the KMSS leader was arrested his fans and activists hit the streets in many places demanding his unconditional release paralyzing traffic movement on the road.
In Doboka, KMSS leaders in large numbers spilled to the roads in protest against Gogoi’s arrest. Apart from blocking the roads causing immense traffic logjam, the protestors burnt the effigies of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and his cabinet colleague Himanta Biswa Sarma.
