ATASU's statewide protest from August 26

All Tai Ahom Student Union (ATASU) will burn the effigies of the Prime Minister, Union Tribal Affairs Minister and Chief Minister of Assam on August 26 protesting statement of the Union Tribal Affairs Minister regarding the ST Status to the Ahom, Koch Rajbanshi, Motok, Moraan, Tea Tribes and Chutia communities of Assam. Declaring it at a press meet at the ATASU office, Nazira the central general secretary of ATASU said that the they will block the rail road in every districts of Assam on August 28 and also block the Mohanbari Airport, Dibrugarh on September 2.

Draft Electoral Roll Published for Sivasagar District; Total Voters at 5.72 Lakh

The draft electoral roll for the three Assembly constituencies of Sivasagar district—Demow, Sivasagar and Nazira—was published on December 27, officials said.
