Very happy to know that the association is continuing to do well and growing. I had the privilege of being the President of the association around 1981-82 when I was a Professor of IIT-Madras ( now Chennai). During Assam Movement, we published the Brahmaputra Beckons. Guwahati: The BJP-led coalition government's much hyped yeoman service stands exposed with one after returnees disclosing their miseries.  The journey by bus to the state was not at all free.  The quarantine in hotels in Guwahati lack basic facilities.  That too for Rs.5000. A returnee here disclosed the zero medical treatment facilities for her along with two others at a hotel where she was lodged on Thursday.  She along with two are returnees from Kota in Rajasthan along with 200 other. The ladies are allowed in hotel quarantine while the gents were sent to Sarusajai.
Guwahati: Three more people in the state have tested positive in COVID19. This was what health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in Guwahati on Friday. The victim is said to have been a 16-year-old girl who belonged to the family of a staff of B Barooah Cancer Institute who died on Thursday. Kokrajhar: Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi has dissolved the Bodoland Territorial Council on Monday following the expiry of its term amid speculations of a widening gap between BJP and BPF. Raj Bhawan issued the notification in the evening declining BPF's prayer for an extension following the COVID19 menace that forced the authority to countermand the council polls slated for April 4. BJP president Ranjit Das on Sunday said that BTAD should come under the governor's rule as soon as the term of the BPF council expires. Barpeta: Former headmaster of Juro Ram Pathak Girls' High School Himangshu Pathak breathed his last on Saturday morning at his residence at Gandhinagar, Barpeta. He was 87. He left behind his wife, two sons, two daughters, grandchildren, and a host of his relatives, well-wishers.  People of Barpeta mourned for the demise of their beloved 'English Sir'.
