Court asks Bangla intellectual to surrender

Guwahati: A lower court in Guwahati on Wednesday asked Kolkata based intellectual Garga Chatterjee to surrender before it by August 27.

The court has issued the order after the court was apprised that Chatterjee who made defamatory remarks against first Ahom king Chaulung Sukafa.

The court further slammed the failure of Kolkata police to arrest the Bangla Pakhya leader even after a nonbailable warrant was issued.

He called the pioneer of the Ahom emperor as Chinese invader ad questioned the government’s intention to celebrate Assam Day.
