Debojeet Thaosen New CEM

Ngamrothang Hmar, Chairman of 11th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council declared  Sri Debojeet Thaosen as the Chief Executive Member elected unopposed in the session hall in presence of 26 newly elected Members of the Autonomous Council on Thursday.

The Chairman received seven nominations which were found valid and were in favour of Sri Thaosen.

Attending the session, all the 26 MACs congratulated Sri Debojeet Thaosen on being elected as the Chief Executive Member North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council while hoping for a good governance under the leadership of Sri Thaosen.

Sri Mihir Gorlosa, MAC from Kalachand constituency said facilities for the opposition also needed to be provided with the modification and rectification of rules since a strong opposition is also very much required for good governance. He also said ‘how the opposition could survive in empty stomach’.

Sri Niranjan Hojai, MAC from Diyungmukh said the executive body should involve them (former DHD members) during the discussion with central and state governments for proper implementation of Memorandum of settlement. The proper implementation of the MoS means - over all development of the district as well for the people of Dima Hasao.

Sri Debojeet Thaosen, CEM, NCHAC said it was unfortunate because we were not having any opposition. A Healthy and constructive criticism always helps the government to do more welfare for the people as well as for the district. He requested all the members to put forward suggestions regarding the facility for the opposition in the session slated to be held on July 12 next.

Answering the questions of the media persons Sri Thaosen disclosed that the permanent solution to the payment of salaries to the employees of normal sector would be the top priority for his government. It is to mention here that the employees of normal sector were not getting salaries for last few months. New CEM said road communication, proper water supply at Haflong in particular and in Dima Hasao in general needed to be addressed in priority basis.

Mentionable that Sri Thaosen would be the CEM of 11th NCHAC for the 2nd term. He was the CEM of 10th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council for 2 years and 11 months.

DJNA Militants apprehended

Assam Rifles donates equipments to schools

In continuation of its Civic Action Programme, the Haflong based 25 Assam Rifles under aegis of Headquarters 22 Sector Assam Rifles provided Sports Equipment, Computers with Printers and Water tank to Dibrai High School and PMS High School, Moulhoi, Dima Hasao .Commandant, 25 Assam Rifles handed over the items to the school authorities. Man killed by elephant at Khrumingdisa, Umrangso

Rising incidents of Man-animal conflict has spread in Dima Hasao also, killing one 60 years old man of Khrumingdisa village under Umrangso Police station on Friday. No water in Haflong govt college hostel

To register their protest against the PHE department, thirty boarders of Haflong Govt. College Boys Hostel went up to the PHE water-storage tank, near the minister's residence, and staged their unique protest by brushing their teeth on 11th December 2012, in the morning. Cheater arrested at Haflong

Dima Hasao Police arrested one Karunakanta Medhi aged 55 years of Pathsala in Barpeta district from a hotel at Haflong on Tuesday. Medhi was reportedly collecting money for providing service of teacher in the name of Mother Teachers Association particularly from women. He was later produced at Haflong court and sent to jail.
