Ijaz tops HSLC exam as SEBA announces results

The Board of Secondary Education announced the results of the High School Leaving Certificate and the Assam High Madrassa Examinations on Friday. Altogether 2,59,149 candidates emerged successful out of 3,66,476. The percentage of successful candidates stands at 70.71%.

Ijaz Ahmed from Pathshala Shiksha Pith in Barpeta tops the HSLC examinations. Second position goes jointly to Gourika Bang, Little Flower School, Dibrugarh; Manas Jyoti Sarma, Anand Vidya Niketan, Nalbari; Pingal Pratyush Nath, Sophy Mercy School, Sibsagar , Saurav Paul, Don Bosco High School in Sonitpur. Nayan Jyoti Sarma, Sankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan, Nalbari secured third position. The fourth position goes to Bhargav Pathak from Christ King High School. Nayan Ahmed from Mangaldoi Don Bosco, Darang Himanish Sen from Don Bosco High School, Sonitpur secured fifth position. Sixth position jointly goes to Abhiroop Bhowmik from Christ Jyoti School in Nagaon, Ripunica Gohain from Christ Jyoti School in Nagaon, Paritosh Sanjib Bailung from Sophy Mercy School in Sibsagar. Ridhi Lahon from Salt Brook School in Dibrugarh, Pranami Kaushik from Golaghat Jatiya Vidyalaya, Rituraj Barman from Sankardev Vidya Niketan in Nalbari and Swati Deka from Saint Joseph Convent in Sonitpur secured seventh position. The 8th Position goes to Rahul Kalita, Raha HS School, Nagaon , Sushmita Basumatary, Saint Joseph Convent, Sonitpur.

Assam tables historic bill

In a historic move, the Assam government on Friday moved s bill in the legislative assembly to ensure proper care for the elders.  Moving the Bill on the floor senior minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the bill if turned into an Act would make it mandatory for all government employees to ensure proper care for their parents.  “The government would not tolerate negligence to the parents of an employees. A govt employee will have to face action “ said Sarma.  Assam is the first state to have moved such bill aiming at enduring care for the elders.

Crop insurance scheme in the pipeline

Crop Cutting Experiments (CCEs) under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), which were delayed due to floods in many parts of the State, are expected to start shortly and the government has also started work to implement PMFBY during the forthcoming Rabi season.  CCEs were delayed as most of the crop fields were under floodwater. It will start very soon where the field officials or agricultural extension assistants (AEAs) will be using smart phones to upload yield data. Akhil Gogoi held on anti-national charge

The Dibrugarh police have arrested Akhil Gogoi on Wednesday a day after the RTI activist announced his preparedness to take up arms to safeguard the interest of the people. A team of Dibrugarh police rushed to Golaghat town in the evening and arrested the leader from his own residence. According to police, they registered a case against Gogoi tried to fuel anti national activities urging them to remain prepared to take up arms as he was addressing a huge rally near the town. The All A'chik Youth Federation Assam State Zone (AAYF ASZ) is unhappy with the Assam government for not recruiting teachers in LP School for the Garo Medium LP School. Flash flood wreaks havoc: 1 dead

The incessant rains in the catchment areas of Arunachal Pradesh creates no less havoc in Sonitpur and Biswanath districts of Assam in the form of a ravaging flash flood.One person met watery grave while nearly 8,000 people have been rendered homeless during the last three days.
