Raha AASU takes out bicycle rally

The Raha unit of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) on Tuesday took out a protest rally demanding immediate steps by the Government to protect the indigeneous textile industry of the state. The rally visited several major parts of the town shouting slogans against the state government.
 
In a statement the AASU said that the people of Sualkuchi have been demanding steps by the Government to protect the indigeneous textile industry for a long time, but so far they ahave received nothing but assurances from the state Government.
 
The AASU unit further said that selling of Benarasi silk as Sualkuchi silk is banned only in Kamrup district, but the ban should be imposed all over the state.
