DHAC welcomes MoS

The Dima Hasao Autonomous Council whole heartedly welcomed the signing of Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) between DHD (J), DHD (N), the State Government and the Central Government.


The 8th of October 2012 has become a Red Letter Day for the District of Dima Hasao as the successful tripartite talk between the DHD (J), DHD (N), the State Government and the Central Government at New Delhi had completed.


The Dima Hasao Autonomous Council welcomes the leaders and the community of DHD (J) and DHD (N) with great satisfaction for successful completion of talk their long pending demands.


It was a matter of great privilege and satisfaction that the State and the Central Government had taken great initiative in restoring peace and normalcy and to solve the long pending problems of the people of the district of Dima Hasao and to take high level decision on signing of MoS for the betterment of Dima Hasao District. The Dima Hasao Autonomous Council extends heartfelt and sincere thanks to the State and the Central Government for taking such immense initiative.


The Dima Hasao Autonomous Council was hopeful that in coming future the district of Dima Hasao will notice a peace, tranquillity and harmony amongst all the different ethnic tribes and hope the Central and the State Government will always forward their helping hand for the development of the District of Dima Hasao, stated Sri Kalijay Sengyung, EM, DHAC in press meet held on Tuesday at CEM’s conference hall, Haflong

DSU and Veer Lachit Sena stopped works of Tunnel No 13A

Expressing serious concern over the substandard construction work of Tunnel No 13 A of much publicised Lumding-Silchar BG conversion by the M/s M K Engineering, the Veer Lachit Sena, Assam and Dimasa Students Union stopped the ongoing construction works from Friday.Several members of Veer Lachit Sena, Assam and Dimasa Students Union visited the work site of M K Engineering, some 22 km from Haflong located near Muolkhoi village and interacted with the supervising engineer of NF Railway and of the company concerned.Both the organisations asked the representative of the company not to play with the lives of people for their bested interest. DJNA Militants apprehended

During a spot checking by the 25 Assam Rifles apprehended two cadres of Dima Jadi Naiso Army (DJNA) from Sambudhan rotary in the heart of Haflong Township on Sunday when they were travelling in an auto bearing No AS 08-3538 .One Chinese grenade, one pistol, one magazine, 5 rounds of 7.65mm live cartages and three numbers of demand notes on original pad of DJNA were recovered from them.They are identified as Bonod Langthasa, 33 of Sarkari Bagan, Haflong and Zimmy Thaosen, 19 of Dimalik Raji, Haflong.Of late, the DJNA, newly formed armed group unleashed reign of terror by extorting businessmen of Haflong.Security persons believed that there has been a plan to lob grenade at Haflong to create...

Director General Assam Rifles Visits Haflong Garrisson

Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, AVSM, SM, Director General Assam Rifles along with Maj Gen Satish Dua, SM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) visited the Assam Rifles Garrison at Haflong on December 12, 2012. Assam Rifles donates equipments to schools

In continuation of its Civic Action Programme, the Haflong based 25 Assam Rifles under aegis of Headquarters 22 Sector Assam Rifles provided Sports Equipment, Computers with Printers and Water tank to Dibrai High School and PMS High School, Moulhoi, Dima Hasao .Commandant, 25 Assam Rifles handed over the items to the school authorities. Principal and teachers with school students, school staff, head man of Dibrai, Moulhoi and local villagers were present for the programme. Man killed by elephant at Khrumingdisa, Umrangso

Rising incidents of Man-animal conflict has spread in Dima Hasao also, killing one 60 years old man of Khrumingdisa village under Umrangso Police station on Friday. One Bidyanan Kemprai was killed by a wild elephant on Friday at about 5 PM when he was returning from sand quarry near Kopili River.It is learnt that like every year, few weeks back a herd of wild elephant numbering 30/40 were seen in and Umrangso area and the villagers tried to drive them out of that area. No water in Haflong govt college hostel

To register their protest against the PHE department, thirty boarders of Haflong Govt. College Boys Hostel went up to the PHE water-storage tank, near the minister's residence, and staged their unique protest by brushing their teeth on 11th December 2012, in the morning.
