66th Independence Day celebrated at Haflong

With rest of the country, the 66th Independence Day was celebrated in a befitting manner at N.L Daulagupu Sports Complex, Haflong Wednesday. The Chief Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Shri. Debojeet Thaosen unfurled the National Flag and received the Guard of Honour from the participating contingents accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, Dima Hasao.



The CEM while delivering his speech highlighted the developmental activities implemented during a short period of time especially on road communication, education and sports. He stressed upon the importance of education for which steps has been taken in this regard to improve the infrastructure.


In the occasion, Grant- in - aids are distributed to the Senior citizens and other beneficiaries through the Social Welfare Department. An award for CM's Best community Action Award for development (2012) was given to Evergreen Club of Muolhoi which was handed over by the Deputy Commissioner Shri.Dilip Borthakur. The Best Field Assistant service award was given to Shri Bani Chandra Barman of Veterinary Department. A colorful cultural show was presented by the different communities of the district during the programme. The prize for the best Parade contingent goes to St. Agnes Convent High School. Two numbers of Ambulances of the Haflong Medical Department was flagged off by the CEM to render services to the public. Other programmes include a friendly football match between Dima Hasao Sports Association XI and 119 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) and distribution of fruits and sweets to the patients in Haflong Civil Hospital and inmates of Jail and Orphanage Home by the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs. Among others the programme was also attended by EM's of DHAC, Govt. Officials, dignitaries from the Indian Army senior citizens and people from all sections of the society.

The one day Dwitiya  Sopan Testing camp organized by the  Kendriya Vidyalaya, Haflong   from 7 am to 6 pm on Sunday.
