Sarbananda Sonowal, BJP State President while strongly criticizing the Congress government and the party appealed to the people of Dima Hasao to support the BJP candidates in the forthcoming election to the 11th N C Hills Autonomous Council slated to be held on May 20 next.
Sonowal was addressing the media persons at Haflong BJP district office following a meeting with the candidates and the workers of BJP on Wednesday. He straightway blamed the congress ruled Council for depriving the people of the district and even the basic needs of the people were not being provided to them. The people of Dima Hasao have minimum requirement like proper water supply, road communication, medical etc. but the congress government never pays any attention to the plights of the people of the district rather misappropriated huge amount meant for the development of the people and the district. During 2007 election BJP had bagged 9 seats out of 10 as Joint Co-ordination Committee of ASDC-BJP and later all the leaders joined the Congress including District President Sri Kulendra Daoplagupu who is now contesting as the Congress candidate. When asked whether the BJP leaders like previous one, after winning the election would ran away from BJP and join Congress. He in defense said the Congress had hatched out a conspiracy to disestablish the ASDC-BJP ruled NCHAC during 2007 following which all the BJP leaders had to join Congress.
Sonowal assured the people of Dima Hasao that if they this time support the BJP then future of Dima Hasao would be brighter and the district of Dima Hasao, tiny but beautiful and the only hill district of Assam could be developed like anything. Further he said BJP is always committed to raise the voice of Dima Hasao people not only in Assam Assembly but also in the Parliament. The Dima Hasao district with the people from various communities and tribe requires a special attention of the Governments but the governments ruled by the Congress never feel it necessary to do.
Therefore all the people of this district should teach a lesson to these congress leaders by not supporting them in the forthcoming election otherwise the condition the Dima Hasao people would remain same in future also.
