Best Hospital Award to Golaghat Civil Hospital raises eyebrows
At the time when the state government has conferred the best hospital to Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital has raised many eyebrows. Golaghat Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital which is supposed to cater to the medical needs of the entire district covering three subdivisions – Bokakhat, Dhansiri and Golaghat has failed to live up to the expectations of the people. Already suffering and ailing, when patients are admitted in the civil hospital, their hope is to get some basic facilities. How can a hospital lacking in so many aspects of medical care can qualify to become the best hospital. Inadequate medical equipment and lack of manpower make for sheer inconvenience.
In papers, KK Civil is 319 bedded hospital but in reality the lack of adequate beds has compelled nearly 50 to 80 patients daily to avail medical treatment on the verandah. At the same time a marked shortage of doctors in the ENT, Gynecology, Medicine, Dental and Surgery department causing a lot of inconvenience to the patients. The hospital requires 105 numbers of nurses but at present only 64 nurses were offering service. Also till date the hospital does not have psychiatrist, a radiologist and a skin specialist.
Officially even after years of becoming a district the hospital has still not been upgraded to a full fledged dist. hospital. The radiological department also lacks infrastructure facilities The X-Ray machine too is the basic one. Moreover The kk civll hospital often grab the headline for doctor patient conflict which also raises about its administrative efficiency. In conclusion we can say that how a hospital with so many loopholes can have the distinction of being the best hospital in the state.
