The 27th Mid-Term Conference of Sivasagar District Academic Council on January 18-19
The 27th mid-term conference of Sivasagar district academic council will be held on 18-19 January, 2012, at Ghilaguri High School, Khaloighugura. On first day the flag will be hoisted by Prabin Sarma, Inspector of school and remembrance will be attended by Atul Phukon, executive president of the celebration committee. On that day a discussion, “ The rule of present education system in quality education” will be inaugurated by retired Principal of Ting-Khang College, Mr. Jiweswar Mohon.
On the second day the open meeting will be innugurated by mr. Lakhminath Gogoi, Sub-Divisional Officer, Charaidew and will be attended by retired Professor of Dibrugarh University, Mr. Girin Phukon, Retired Principal of Bhagawati Prasad Barua Higher Secondary School, Sonari, Mr. Bishnu Dutta, the Education Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and the speaker of Assam Assembly Mr. Pranab Gogoi. The D.C. of Sivasagar, Mr. Jatindra Nath Lohkor will be attended as a Invited guest. A souvenir will also be released in that meeting.

Punaram Mili, an employee of Assam Asset, is the first Assamese, who elected as president of All India Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Tribe welfare Association. Table tennis player and journalist Nilim Chowdhury memorial Upper Assam Table Tennis Tournament has started from January 21 at Dibrugarh Indoor Stadium. Scholar of Tai language, historian, litterateur and literary pensioner of Chetia Gaon of Lakhimpur town, Aijep Phukan died due to cardiac arrest at Dispur Nursing home on January 21 at an age of 75 years. He was born at Jalukkota-Narayanpur of Lakhimpur in 1943. Late Phukan dedicated his life for the development of Tai culture and literature. “Swadhinota Jujaru Chowfalung Urofe Ranuwa Gohainsi”, “Akhamor Atit Aru Bortomaan”, Tai Sankskritir Jilikoni”, Mohabibir Lachit Borphukan” are some noted book published by Phukon. The year long golden Jubilee celebration of Dikhowmukh Janajati High School is started from January 21, with variety of programmes. The school was established on 1962. In separate road accidents on Friday, 2 persons died on spot and 3 were seriously injured. One was at Suffry, Sonari where a Maruti 800 of Ghana Gogoi of ONGC was hit by a TATA Sumo (without number plate) from back. As a result the Maruti car was badly damaged and Handique badly injured. Though Gogoi was admitted to the Charaidew Sub-Division Civil Hospital at Rojabari could not be saved. The Tata Sumo was hired by Army personals, who are in civil dress and fled from the spot after the accident.
The other accident was at Hatighuli of Gaurisagar on National highway 37. A blue colour Indica going towards Jorhat made head on collision with a rice carrying truck going towards Sivasagar....
