1st Bodo National Conference begins at Udalguri


The First session of the Bodo National Conference (BNC) has begun at Udalguri with gaiety.The BNC delegates’ session which was started in the evening on November 18, was inaugurated by Biswajit Daimari, Member of the Parliament (RS)..Kampa Borgoyary, Deputy Chief of BTC and chief convenor of the umbrella organization told a section of the media persons here at the venue of the first conference of the BNC today on the first day of the two day long BNC conference that Bodo National Conference (BNC) has been formed for unity and permanent peace among the Bodos.


Borgoyari also detailed the resolutions taken in the crucial executive meeting held juct before the delegates session and said that the executive body of the umbrella organization accepted the withdrawal of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB-P) from the BNC and said that the BNC would always look for greater unity of the Boros for the greater interest of development and stopping of fratricidal killings in the Bodoland region. However he maintained that it would welcome the NDFB(P) version to support the BNC from outside and declared that “the outfit(NDFB-P) is not a member of BNC now onwards.” He also informed the media persons that all these issues will be discussed in detail in the delegates’ session to beheld this evening where delegates from more than 23 Bodo organizations are taking part.


On the other hand, Anjali Daimari, convenor of BNC told the media persons that the BNC was believed to be working in the right track to herald permanent peace and unity among the various Bodo organizations. According to her,they have supported the peace initiative of the NDFB(P)and also of the NDFB led by Ranjan Daimari as they had saught permanent solution of the imbroglio plaguing the Bodo society.But she also said that the BNC alone could not solve all the problems. Daimari also informed that the BNC would soon meet the concerned authority of the Union Government in New Delhi to chalk out the peace process with the rebel Boro organizations after the BNC conference which would surely bring a good information to all of us.Significantly, Bhramon Baglari, a senior leader of UDPF informed that his party would never support the BNC as it did not support the demand for a separate Bodoland.

In a very tragic and shocking incident six endangered species of Himalayan vultures died and two critically injured in Udmari village near Kalaigaon in Darrang district on March 16 due to poisoning.The incident has caused sensation in the district and everybody has condemned the poisoning of the innocent vultures. Encounter took place  between a group of NDFB(S) militant and a police party comprising SP and  Addl.S.P. Udalguri, OC, Mazbat PS, IPS (Proby) and other police personnel in Hatipota village under Mazbat PS last night on March 15.
