The government on Saturday claimed to have identified the perpetrators in the Balajan bloodbath where 14 people were killed in a reign of terror at an open market. According to government sources the neutralized perpetrator was none other than Manjay Islari who along with a few others unleashed the reign of terror with firing and bombing on the common people in the open market.
Meanwhile, a 6 member NIA team is taking the statements of the eyewitnesses amid an intensified counter insurgency operation. The army, police and para military forces have been expanding the operation area to the neighbouring BTAD district to trace down the culprits who managed to flee from the spot.
Hunmili Teronpi, present Project Director of DRDA Karbi Anglong, an Assam Civil Service cadre along with Dr. Badan Chandra Chandra Kro distinguished physician of Assam has been nominated as best Karbi women and Best Karbi man for the year 2010. A clandestine illustrious jury deputed by Karbi Riso Adorbar, Karbi Students Association and Karbi So-Arlo Amei, made the choice on the basis of opinion survey from all across the district. The result was announced the three premier social organization of the district are coordinating the event since 2003.

A seminar on the subject "Job Opportunities in the Middle East" has been organized in Guwahati on August 28. The organizers of the seminar are Friends of Assam and Seven Sisters (FASS) and the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), Cotton College. Both FASS and EDC have been working extensively towards the improvement of the society in various ways. FASS and EDC, both organizes many workshop, seminars on various important subjects to enhance the standard of the society, especially the youth of the society.
During the seminar, a presentation has been made Mr. Bikram M. Baruah who is a resident of Abu Dhabi and a Director of FASS. During his presentation, he focused on the countries like UAE, OMAN, QATAR, BAHRAIN, SAUDI ARABIA, KUWAIT.
During the interactive session they informed this seminar largely to make awareness among the youth regarding the job opportunities in the Middle East. So, this type of the seminar will surely help the youth.

ULFA advisor Bhimakanta Buragohain said talks between Government and ULFA possible only when it will be approved by chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa and military chief Paresh Barua. Talking to reporters at the session court premises, the jailed ULFA leader denied speculations that there was a split in the ULFA following declaration of unilateral ceasefire by the two companies of 28 battalion.
On the other hand, the Assam govt on Friday welcomed the initiative for a peaceful solution to the insurgency issue in the state of the 'A' and 'C' companies of banned ULFA's 28 battalion. In a statement released on Friday, the government considers the step taken by the two companies as encouraging and positive in bringing peace in the state. The statement read: The state government is hopeful that other leaders and members of ULFA will also come forward for creating a conducive atmosphere to accelerate the peace process. In deference to the unconditional suspension of operations by the two companies, the government is committed to facilitate the peace process within the ambit of the Constitution.
