The Unity Education Foundation, Guwahati recently in association with the Gandhi Smriti & Darshan Samiti, New Delhi organized a daylong National Seminar titled "Gandhism: Understanding peace and the way to maintain it" at Hotel Nakshatra Conference Hall in an effort to explore and employ Gandhian principles to address conflict resolution.
The Seminar attracted a large number of students and local dignitaries. Speaking on the occasion Hem Bhai, CEO Gandhi Sandhana Ashram Guwahati said that there is nothing called Gandhism which is a pertinent fact of Gandhian philosophy. Gandhiji himself denounced it and therefore Gandhiji cannot be contained in ‘ism’. ‘The future of the world is a bleak one. Humanity can be redeemed with the principles of the way of Gandhi to set itself away from extinction’, he held.
Pointing out the relevance of Gandhian thoughts Prof. Dr. A. Naseer IIT Guwahati said that though people take recourse to violence under circumstances, the inherent factor is the achievement of peace. Investigators from the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) returned to India this week to continue the search for remains of U.S. personnel missing since World War II.
