Dibrugarh emerged champion in the All Assam U-17 Inter District Women Football Tournament defeating Baksa by a margin of 3-2 goals, played at Dhupdhara in Goalpara District on Sunday. The tournament was organised by Dhupdhara Bikali Sports Association under the aegis of All Assam Football Association. In the 7th minute of the match Dorothi Orea of Dibrugarh scored the 1st goal. But Melani Ekka of Baksa equalled the score board by scoring a goal in the 12th minute. Later in the 27th minute Runumi Daimary scored the 2nd goal for Baksa. After half time, Dibrugarh played attacking game and in the result Meghali Barua scored a goal in the 48th (2-2). In the 75th minute Mridula Mess of Dibrugarh scored the winning goal (3-2). Melani Ekka of Baksa was adjudged the best player of the tournament and Dorothi Orea of Dibrugarh won the highest scorer prize. Hemendra Nath Brahma, president of All Assam Football Association, and Jiten Das, Senior Advocate, gave away the prizes and other dignitaries present on the prize distribution were Sibcharan Basumatary, Dudhnoi MLA and K.N. Bora, Goalpara DSP.
