Amid tight security repolling is going on in five booths in Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency on Thursday.The repolling began at 7 in the morning where the voters are waiting to exercise their franchise from morning.All these booths fall under Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency where EVM refused to function properly on Monday.The repolling is underway at 38 Sensuwa LP School under Jorhat Assembly segment, 5 Pukhuria LP School under Mariani assembly segment, 84 Baharbari LP School under Sonari Assembly segment and 61 Khoragarh LP School under Amguri assembly segment.Repolling was ordered after the authorities were convinced of EVM malfunctioning. It will end at 5 in the afternoon.
Congress MLA in Silchar Dinesh Prasad Goala is stable. But he would be flown to Kolkata for better treatment.According to information, Goala was admitted to the hospital after he complained of breathing problem due to heart attack.Doctors attending on him suggest the family members to rush him to Kolkata for better treatment.

Braving incessant rain that lashed Barak valley, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi held a huge poll rally in Udarband on Wednesday.Gandhi landed at the Kumbhirgram Airport in Silchar at 11 in the morning and left for Udarband by a helicopter where he campaigned for Silchar Congress candidate Sushmita Dev who is facing keen contest with BJP rival Kabindra Purkayastha.In his address, Gandhi came down heavily on Narendra Modi and BJP saying that the voters are intelligent and not even a voter can be deceived by Modi and his magic.He said that the UPA government has benefitted the people of all walks of life and that it would show something different if the party is allowed to stay in power...
BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will again visit Assam to campaign for the party candidates for the Lok Sabha polls.The Gujarat Chief Minister is scheduled to visit the state on April 17 where he would hold three poll rallies in Barpeta, Mongoldoi and Nagaon.Apart from Guwahati, Modi earlier held rallies in Sivasagar, Lakhimpur, Tezpur for the first phase of polls.
Former Congress MP Mani Kumar Subba’s condition refuses to improve on Wednesday two days after he underwent a brain surgery at the Medanta City Hospital in Gurgaon.According to sources, Subba who was rushed from Guwahati following cardiac ailment is still on ventilation support. Subba, who is contesting from Tezpur in the Lok Sabha polls suddenly fell ill on Thursday last at his residence in Lakhimpur before being flown to GNRC in Dispur.His family members rushed Subba to Gurgaon for better condition where he is not out of danger.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected interim bail for Kamal Medhi who has been booked in connection with the Pranab Boro self immolation case.The division bench of the apex court heard the petition moved on his behalf where the KMSS general secretary was denied bail in view of the seriousness of the case pending against him with the Dispur police station.Medhi moved the top court after the Gauhati High Court refused to grant him anticipatory bail in connection with the sensational case where a KMSS activist died in self immolation attempt in Dispur on February 24.
