Braving incessant rain that lashed Barak valley, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi held a huge poll rally in Udarband on Wednesday.
Gandhi landed at the Kumbhirgram Airport in Silchar at 11 in the morning and left for Udarband by a helicopter where he campaigned for Silchar Congress candidate Sushmita Dev who is facing keen contest with BJP rival Kabindra Purkayastha.
In his address, Gandhi came down heavily on Narendra Modi and BJP saying that the voters are intelligent and not even a voter can be deceived by Modi and his magic.
He said that the UPA government has benefitted the people of all walks of life and that it would show something different if the party is allowed to stay in power.
Chief minister Tarun Gogoi, APCC president Bhubneswar Kalita, former Union minister Santosh Mohan Dev, minister Gautom Roy along with other senior party leaders also attended the rally. Polls would take place in Silchar on April 12 along with Diphu and Karimganj.
