21st July, 2010 - a memorable day for the Barpeta. Barpeta Mayhem has completed one year. On that very day Barpeta District AAMSU protest demanding the correct NRC up gradation and to stop the Pilot project. Last year about 150 people were injured in police lathi charge. Mentionable that in the name of that protest march of AAMSU a group of people had destroyed the properities of some business centres as well as the hoardings of the DC office, burnt some vehicles and attacked locals by the picketers. Obituary: Mithila Ranjan Roychoudhury

Mithila Ranjan Roychoudhury (Mantu) passed away at his residence at Isswapur Hati, Barpeta on April 14 at about 8 o' clock.
