68.75 % poll turn out in Barpeta district

In the second phase of Assam Assembly election 2011 in Barpeta district overall turn out is 68.75%. Among those 70.83% at poll turn out at Barpeta subdivision and 62.50% at Bajali subdivision. In no 40 Sarbhog LAC the poll percentage 72%, at no 43 Barpeta LAC 70%, at no 44 Jania LAC 70%, at 45 Bafghabar LAC 72%, at 46 Sarukshetry LAC 69% and in No 47Chenga LAC-72% in Barpeta subdivision and Bajali in subdivision at no 41 Bhawanipur LAC 63% and at no 42 Patacharkuchi LAC 62% poll turn out according to the latest report from the official sources.


On the other hand in most of the places the poll remained peacefull except some small incidents. According to our report said that one Ayub Khan of Bhawanipu LAC at Chawalia bori LP school centre was injured by the security police force while he was complaining against the campaign of Phani Talukdar. He opposed the campaign of Phani Talukdar in the polling centre and in this regard an unavoidable situation arose and Ayub Khan was injured there and the poll have to stop there for some moment. Later on Ayb Khan was admitted to hospital and the situation was also became stable.

The timber smuggling business of Barpeta is not a new matter. Rampant timber smuggling is going on. Woods have been illegally transported during the early morning. But the forest department and the police of Barpeta turned deaf ear on this matter. In the wee hours of September 18 an over-loaded truck (No. AS-01-BC-5676) containing illegal timbers, which is about to cross the Dakshin Hati-Rayatpara connecting bridge (R. P.
